Live At The Murder Scene - Chapter 11
While the netizens were still paying attention to that previous picture, Qiongcang had already turned and went to the balcony.
Leaning on the railing on the balcony, she turned her head from side to side whilst holding her neck. After loosening her neck muscles, she stretched her hands out and gave her finger joints a good crack, Ka Ka.
After finishing the preparatory work, Qiongcang took out her mobile phone and began to prepare a message intended for He Jueyun.
For the convenience of the audience, the contents on her phone were projected onto the left side of the screen.
Qiongcang: About my deductions of the relationship between the three deceased subjects.
Qiongcang: Subject 1 Tian Yun, had a close relationship with subject 2 Zhou Nansong. [Attached picture]
Qiongcang: On the other hand, Zhou Nansong and Wang Dongyan, roommates, have a poor relationship.
When the first two lines appeared, the netizens were agreeable. However, everyone became stupefied when the last message appeared.
“I knew it! Which student would, after receiving compulsory education, buy a talisman for a dead friend? That’s way too strange! She must be feeling guilty! Big Boss, we have the same views!”
“There’s no clear evidence to support this right? That talisman alone can’t hold water. A lot of people would buy for no specific reason. Plus the pouch looks nice. There are a lot of casually superstitious people in our country.”
He Jueyun quickly replied.
He Jueyun: How so?
Qiongcang typed quickly.
Qioingcang: The stationeries, magazines, ornaments, cups, and other items on their desks do not overlap or have any similarity. On the contrary, they share the same line of products with the other roommates.
Qiongcang: [Photo] Wang Dongyan and the other roommates have similar sandals in terms of style and material; probably came from the same shop. Conversely, Zhou Nansong’s mug is personalized, so are the mugs of her other roommates, with similar art styles.
Qiongcang: Since these two roommates are purposefully avoiding the other person’s styles, it could be inferred that their relationship is tense. Wang Dongyan likes to take photos, yet there are no photos of her with Zhou Nansong. These are all corroborative proof.
He Jueyun: Passable argument.
Qiongcang: [Image – Talisman] No other religious-related items were found in Wang Dongyan’s personal belongings, and no relevant information was revealed in her mobile phone. The uniquely styled yellow talisman paper is a hot item sold on Taobao. Wang Dongyan probably has a belief system similar to that of Xuanxue, thus she bought this item in passing.
[TL note: Xuanxue is a metaphysical post-classical Chinese philosophy from the Six Dynasties, bringing together Daoist and Confucian beliefs through revision and discussion.]
He Jueyun: Agreed.
Qiongcang: With their relationship in such a poor state, it is abnormal for Wang Dongyan to purchase a talisman with such a sensitive function and place it in her wardrobe. Perhaps she’s subconsciously seeking peace of mind. Putting forth bold speculation— Wang Dongyan must have something to do with Zhou Nansong’s suicide, that’s why Wang Dongyan feels guilty. Maybe she had a hand in it or is aware of some inside story.
He Jueyun: Makes sense.
Compared to the fast-paced exchange between the two, the speed of comments appearing in the live-stream chat had gradually slowed down. Those particularly boastful comments in front were quickly replaced by comments that were like resounding slaps to the face. The live-stream chat was now left with a bunch of people posting the laughing emoji, silently mocking those viewers that spoke with great conviction.
Soon enough though, the embarrassed netizens were back on their feet.
The best way to cover up one’s mistake was to praise the opponent, thus the netizens in the comment section began to post superficial praise of Qiongcang’s attention to detail. Then as if nothing had happened, continued their divergent way of thinking to predict the situation.
On screen, the two were still communicating.
He Jueyun: Anything else?
