Mebius World Online – Mari’s VRMMO Diary, Embarking on a Laid-back Adventure as a Novice - Chapter 172
172. Mari-nee and the reminiscence of that day
In order to test what Zela-san had taught me, we realized that the annex might be too small, so we headed towards the road that stretched eastward from the royal capital.
If we continued down the road, we would eventually reach the “Great Demon Forest.”
While many adventurers were heading towards the forest for leveling up, we left the road midway and went beyond a small hill.
That place had only a sparse appearance of monsters, and descending the hill would hide us from the road.
It was a good place to test things in secret.
“This kind of reminds me of when Kuuga-chan took its first breath,” Kanna-san muttered, and the scene from that time came back to me.
“A big, fluffy white creature, but I was surprised when it let out a roar as soon as it came to life.”
“When Mareus touched its wind hound, he wasn’t just surprised, he got blown away.”
“Shut up! Just so you know, I haven’t forgotten the way I was treated back then!!”
“Holding a grudge for so long—your butt is small, isn’t it? You can’t let everything be small, especially your thing.”
“Wait, what are you even talking about?”
Though the two of them continued their exchange, I couldn’t hear it because Roulette-san covered my ears with her hands.
Seeing Roulette-san’s growing anger, my brain warned me that it was better not to listen.
As I obediently kept quiet, Roulette-san reached her limit and kicked their asses. (Tln: originally this line doesn’t make sense in english, I can only improved it like this, my bad)
Not metaphorically, but literally.
“People can fly that high…”
The two of them were launched like rockets, even higher than the hill.
As I stared in astonishment, the two began to descend.
Pulled by gravity, they accelerated and hit the ground in no time.
Upon landing, a shockwave similar to an explosion rippled through the air.
If Roulette-san hadn’t supported me, I’m sure I would’ve been blown away.
When the dust settled, we headed to the landing spot and found the two of them planted in the ground.
Their bodies were mostly embedded in the earth.
“They look like a clan with the word ‘dog’ in their name,” Roulette-san remarked. (Tln: The Five Principal Clans (????, Godai S?ke) it’s the only information I can find)
“Isn’t that practically synonymous with death…?”
As I retorted, Roulette-san chuckled and walked over to them.
Along the way, I summoned Gils with my Moira’s Blessing Thread, and I joined Roulette-san helping them.
Fortunately, they survived, but it took a while before they could speak normally again.
The saying “words can bring disaster” crossed my mind.
But I wasn’t entirely sure if it applied to this whole situation.
“Well then, Maria-san, please show us again,” Roulette-san said, clapping as if nothing had happened.
Kanna-san and Mareus-san were clapping too, though they were nervously watching Roulette-san.
They looked like children who had just been scolded by their parents.
To change the atmosphere, I called Vel, just as I had with Gils.
“Piyo pweep!”
With a cute chirp, Vel appeared, and the mood instantly lightened.
This soothing effect—it’s almost like a skill in itself, isn’t it?
After I explained what I was about to do, Vel’s expression became serious, and he chirped again.
“Are you all ready?”
At my question, the three of us nodded, and Gils stood beside me.
“Here we go…”
I equipped Thread of Heaven and switched the skill I was using to breathe life into Vel from Moira’s Blessing Thread to Puppetry.
Then, I activated the equipment trait of the thread, Soul Manifestation.
Immediately, a blinding light radiated from Vel.
The light projected countless weapons and armor in the air, which then turned into particles and gathered back towards Vel.
In the process, I caught a glimpse of the swordbreaker Mareus-san had painstakingly made, realizing that the light was actually the items the three of them had created for Vel.
The swirling mass of particles was already over five meters in diameter and continued to expand.
Just how big will this get? Is Vel going to be okay…?
As I started to worry, the vortex of light suddenly scattered.
Standing there in the light was a massive swan, about six meters tall.
In truth, it had a mix of white and black feathers, so perhaps “black-and-white swan” would be more accurate.
But there was no trace of Vel in that form…
“Vel?”
I called out hesitantly, and its long neck rose up.
Its round eyes locked onto me, and its yellow beak opened as it let out a single cry.
“Piyo!!”
A cute chirp, unfitting for such a large body.
…Yeah, it was Vel.
As I nearly collapsed in relief, Gils quickly supported me.
“Thank you, Gils.”
“Don’t mention it. But as expected from Nero, Kuuga, and my little brother. Quite impressive.”
To describe a transformation from palm-sized to six meters tall as simply “quite impressive”—Gils is pretty impressive himself.
Just as I was about to cradle my head from the overwhelming events, I noticed Roulette-san and the others standing there, dumbfounded.
I understand how they feel…
As we were left bewildered, Vel continued to chirp happily, celebrating his growth.
