Mebius World Online – Mari’s VRMMO Diary, Embarking on a Laid-back Adventure as a Novice - Chapter 20
1-20. Mari-nee and Class Change Conditions
The discussion with the three members of the Production Guild had ended more than three hours after it began.
Despite everyone wearing satisfied expressions, their eyes sparkled as if returning to a childlike innocence while contemplating the future.
I, too, was aware that I had become quite lively without any regard for my age.
After all, if it could be achieved, things I had never even dreamed of would come true.
The new equipment seemed to have materials in stock, and Roulette-san said it could be finished in a day.
Being able to handle custom orders in just one day is quite impressive, isn’t it?
At parting, I gave Roulette-san half of the hamburger I had, but this time, I’ll ask about her preferences and make something to bring next time.
By the way, Mareus-san was silently watching that exchange, but Roulette-san made me take it out once, as if to show off, and then put it away in the item box, infuriating Mareus-san.
If he wanted it, he could just say so, but she doesn’t seem to be straightforward.
There might be a resemblance to my younger brother, Masato, in that aspect.
After parting ways, I decided to go learn the skills Kanna-san had told me about.
Mostly, I learned things from the residents of Eden, and when I asked, everyone willingly taught me.
Thanks to that, I was able to learn several skills, but the one Kanna-san called the “death skill” didn’t seem like it would be easy to acquire.
I wonder how many failures and how much time it will take to learn it… It feels overwhelming.
Let’s regain composure and check the acquired skills.
(Skill: Skill Points +36 ? 20)
?String Manipulation?Lv12
?Puppeteer?Lv5
?Clown?Lv7
?Capture?Lv4
?Cooking?Lv6
?Preparation?Lv1
?Acceleration?Lv1
?Dark Vision?Lv1
?Meditation?Lv1
?Visual Enhancement?Lv1
?Auditory Enhancement?Lv1
Until now, the common skills required 2 points for acquisition, but the enhancement skills required 4 points.
Well, they seem clearly useful.
Karen-san also recommended them, and since I had accumulated enough points, I acquired them.
Here’s a brief explanation of each skill:
?Preparation?( for Cooking)
- Simplifies the preparation for cooking. The content achievable through preparation depends on the skill level.
?Acceleration?
- Accelerates the passage of time for production targets. As the skill level increases, the MP consumption decreases.
?Dark Vision?
- Enables seeing objects even in darkness. How clear the vision depends on the skill level.
?Meditation?
- Improves MP recovery speed in a standby state. The recovery speed depends on the skill level.
?Visual Enhancement?
- Improves the ability to see distant objects well and makes nearby objects more vivid. Visibility distance and accuracy depend on the skill level.
?Auditory Enhancement?
- Enhances the ability to hear sounds well. Audible distance and accuracy depend on the skill level.
“If you have ?Preparation? and ?Acceleration?, cooking becomes easier. ?Dark Vision? will be handy when dealing with Black Wolves. Since ?Meditation? seems fine as long as the person doesn’t move, it’s a good match for me, who can use ?String Manipulation?. ?Visual Enhancement? and ?Auditory Enhancement? will be useful if you have them.”
Satisfied with the skills, I closed the skill screen and headed deeper into the <Trial Forest> to level up.
Although I logged in at 10 AM. Various things happened, and it was already approaching 8 PM.
The night forest was still pitch dark, but thanks to ?Dark Vision?, I could see well enough not to be troubled, even if not as clear as daylight.
Along the way, the Black Wolf that attacked was minimal this time, as I had dealt with them sufficiently before. I defeated only what was necessary and continued advancing.
When I approached the area where Forest Deer might appear, thanks to the enhanced hearing, I noticed a faint sound of leaves rustling overhead without any wind.
Stopping in my tracks, Nero also became vigilant as I looked up and saw a swarm of spiders descending.
“Night Spiders… Are they the offspring of Giant Spiders?”
In appearance, they seemed like a downsized version of Giant Spiders, with a darker color.
Since the Giant Spiders had spat silk before, I need to be more cautious.
Dealing one-on-one is manageable, but from the beginning, it was one-versus-many, or rather two-versus-many, so I needed to proceed with caution.
In my mind, I set up the usual silk barrier, and as expected, the Night Spiders spat silk.
However, what was expected ended there.
“They’re… swinging the silk?”
Wrapping stones at the end of the spat silk, they skillfully started swinging them with their front legs.
The rotation speed increased rapidly, and an unsettling sound began to echo.
This might be a troublesome one.
Releasing the silk and immediately moving behind a tree, I heard a slightly delayed loud sound.
Peeking out with only half of my face, I saw all the Night Spiders in a state ready to throw stones.
“Hey!”
A rain of stones was released one after another.
Oh no! The silk defense is weak against sharp attacks!
Right now, the tree is still holding up, but I don’t know how long it will last.
I’ve seen Bloody Boars break trees before, so I don’t think it’s the same case.
And if they surround me and attack in the same way, I’ll have no way to deal with it.
I extended three threads and activated ?Clown? for each one with a time delay.
Not all of them, but by the time the third one activated, I was able to attract most of their attention and avoid the stone projectiles.
Now that the situation was set up like this, the rest would be easy.
“Nero!”
“!”
Nero jumps out from the opposite side of the extended thread and approaches the Night Spider, who is not prepared for throwing stones, continuously bombarding it with cat punches.
Thanks to the increased level of my <Puppeteer> skill and DEX, Nero seems to be moving even faster.
The Night Spider notices the abnormality and throws stones sporadically, but Nero dodges them with ease and lands cat punches in the openings created.
Nero’s glowing hands in the darkness did not stop for 5 minutes until the light faded away.
“Good work, Nero.”
“!”
Raising his arms as if celebrating victory, the gesture of opening his mouth wide towards the sky is so cute.
But isn’t that more like the behavior of canines rather than felines?
It’s cute so it’s okay.
After that, I continue defeating Night Spiders with Nero for 2 hours.
In the meantime, my job skills also increase, and finally, the long-awaited message appears.
?You have reached level 15. You can now change class. To change class, you need Zela’s approval in Eden city.?
Alright!
But to change the class, I need approval from Zela-san.
Zela-san has some amazing disciples.
I wonder what I need to do to get approved by someone like that.
I have a bad feeling the hurdle is high… My earlier excitement dampens as I think about it.
