Murder At The Rainy Mansion ~The Never Ending 100 Tales~ - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: She solved the mystery by herself again…
Ayano: “Oh no, no. I just accidentally heard a sound that night. Besides, Satoshi-san has said many times before that some people like to use that toilet for secret rendezvous because of its location near the entrance making it a quiet spot at night.”
A sound? Shimizu asked inwardly. At that moment, someone walked past behind him.
Ayano: “Uncle Toru. Did you ask Satoshi-san to make a loud noise by dropping the toilet lid if he sees Hisami-san having a secret tryst in the toilet?”
Toru: “Yeah. I normally won’t show myself in front of Onoda. That day, I appeared in front of him and led him to the toilet where Hisami and her lover were meeting. Then Satoshi helped me to lift and drop the toilet lid.”
Ayano: “At that time, the sound was pretty loud. It echoed all the way up to my bedroom. Because of the recent incidents that involved the toilet, most of the residents here won’t go there anymore.
Well, I think maybe Hisami-san must have thought she was lucky because the venue that she used for her secret rendezvous has become deserted. I assumed Hisami-san didn’t turn on the light in the toilet. If she did, then anyone who walk past the corridor on the north side would notice them.
So, when Onoda-san came near the toilet led by you that night, he heard a loud sound from inside so he instinctively opened the door. I’m not sure if Hisami-san forgot to lock the door or Satoshi-san helped to unlock the door.
I believe you intended to make Hisami-san feel miserable. But unexpectedly, Onoda-san was serious about her so he ended up strangling her to death.”
Ayano stopped briefly and looked deep in thought. Then she continued, “Could it be Onoda-san was the one who killed you? The way he died is exactly the same as yours. Maybe he kept the poison from back then and used it to commit suicide.”
Toru: “But Hisami was the one who was laughing when she saw me dying. If both of them were responsible for my death, then isn’t it weird that they didn’t get married after I died?”
Ayano: “I think Hisami-san laughed because she felt that she finally could have you all for herself. But Uncle Toru, there is one thing that I couldn’t understand. How did you get Satoshi-san to cooperate with you?”
“Humph,” Toru sneered. “I found out a secret about him.”
Ayano: “A secret?”
