My Daughter Grew Up to “Rank S” Adventurer - Chapter 58.6
Hi, everybody. I have recently started a new novel called Strict Wife of the ’70s Manages the Household. It already has 15 chapters. You can check it out HERE.
When she was a child, she had felt the security of having her father by her side. She has yet to know of a Belgrief that she could rely on as a pure adventurer. His swordsmanship was reassuring, but from what Qasim had said, it didn’t seem to stem from his skill with a sword.
Angeline rested her cheek on the edge of the cart.
“Daddy, I wonder if he’s going to come back…”
“I don’t think he will, he’s going back to Tornella in spring…”
“But even Qasim-san is returning to join us in Tornella…”
Anessa shook her head.
“No, no, no, Qasim-san is a former S rank and has plenty of accomplishments, don’t you think? No matter how great Bel-san is, if he doesn’t have any visible achievements, he’ll start all over from a lower rank.”
“… No, it’s okay, if I say so myself. Orphen’s guild can’t go against me.”
“…I’m certain that I can vouch for him when speaking with them as well. Bel’s name is well known among Orphen’s adventurers, right? No one’s going to complain.”
“Wow, abuse of power. I like that kind of stuff!”
Anessa broke out in a cold sweat as the three of them giggled.
“Wait, are you serious?”
“I’m serious… I’m serious…” “Then we can add your father to this group…”
“That’s great! The Black-haired War Maiden and the Sky Crusher. With the addition of the Red Devil, the strongest party is born!”
Miriam giggled, and Qasim laughed and nodded in agreement.
“…Well, I doubt that Bel will ever come back, though.”
“… Why not? I think Daddy would be happy to be invited.”
“Yeah, he’d be happy. But Bel is a serious person. I don’t think he’d like to be recommended by someone to move up a notch without having done anything on his own. He’d probably say something about how it would make a mockery of people who are seriously grinding from lower ranks.”
“Mmm…”
Indeed, it was easy to imagine Belgrief saying that. Belgrief is very stubborn in that respect. No matter how much Angeline said, he would not budge, no matter how hard she tried.
“…You mean he doesn’t want to start from a lower rank again in Orphen, right?”
“I bet, Bel thinks Tornella is where he belongs, doesn’t he?”
Angeline remembered being told that when she was in her room the last time she was back home.
Although she wished she could change his low self-esteem, Angeline was sure that she liked Belgrief’s simple personality that loved his hometown and knew his place.
She hugged her knees and sighed. Her heart was filled with a mixture of regret and pride for Belgrief.
“… But that kind of earnestness is also a good thing about your father.”
“That’s right! It helped us a lot, too.”
“Yeah… I wonder how Perci-san and Sati-san are doing.”
“Well, I don’t know anything about them at the moment. I’ll take my time to find them. For now, I’m just relieved to see Bel. I’m enjoying everything I do now.”
Qasim chuckled.
Before they knew it, the sun had almost entirely set and the carriage had safely entered the capital of Orphen. After returning to the guild to assess the materials and receive the commission, Angeline left Anessa and Miriam and headed home with Qasim.
The streets were crowded with people on their way home from work and soldiers on the night watch, and the air was filled with the delicious smells wafting in the air from buildings and stalls everywhere.
The closer she got to the house, the sooner she could, the more relaxed Angeline’s face became, the more excited her heart became, and the faster she walked up the wooden stairs outside.
The light from the lamp leaked through the crack in the door like a streak.
She put her hand on the doorknob and twisted it.
“I’m home!”
