Coeurl emitted weak electricity from its tentacles to inhibit Magic and convey its will. However, the language system was so different from what she could understand coming from the Coeurl, which was said to have appeared from another world, it was hard to understand the meaning when it was conveyed all at once, and the electrical signal also caused a headache.

(How can that hapless disciple understand this…)

When they were here before, Aria interpreted all of Nero’s intentions. It seemed difficult to communicate with Nero without Aria, but when Celeshura sensed the “impatience” in Nero, she sighed and stared at the giant beast in front of her.

“Start from the beginning.”

Then, after listening to Nero’s incomprehensible explanation, I finally understood what he was trying to say just as the morning sun was rising.

“…Are you saying that that unsociable disciple fought Vampires of the Evil Race and was transferred with the princess by Magic?”

??Right??

That was a brief summary, but various other information was conveyed, and a great deal of effort was consumed to understand it.

One factor was that Nero did not actually see the scene, but Celeshura, who was briefed on the flow of magical power detected by Nero, the phantom, finally grasped the situation, which took until morning.

“That hapless disciple was caught up in a transfer. But your senses felt strange about the spatial transition…. Perhaps they ended up being a little off from the Evil Race countries. She is also a magician who uses spatial systems, so I think she resisted… but based on past cases, it is likely that the point of transition has shifted.”

Celeshura, a former Evil Race soldier, guessed what the Evil Race would do.

She remembered that there was indeed a tool in the Evil Race’s treasury that could be used for spatial transfers, and since Celeshura did not recall any Rank 6 magician being there, they probably made use of that tool.

Celeshura had never actually used it, but even if a dark magician who manipulated spatial systems could use it, it was likely to cause problems for others because they would not have a clear image of the transition point.

“…Was it the desert or the Khalfaan Empire which they were thrown into? What do you want me to do?”

??Search??

“…”

Celeshura was crestfallen as Nero turned his back and lowered his stance.

Nero allowed only Aria to ride on his back. Celeshura was not surprised that Nero allowed Aria to ride on his back, as she was one of his friends, but that was not a common practice. Moreover, Nero would even allow Celeshura to ride on his back in order to increase the chances of finding Aria, since Nero would be on his way to her rescue.

“[…]”

The two stared at each other in silence.

Why would Nero go to such lengths for Aria? But even Celeshura, who tried to apply it to herself, found that she couldn’t explain it in words, and her cheeks relaxed in self-mockery.

Celeshura was concerned about Aria as well, believing that Aria would protect the princess and return safely, but also realizing that she was worried about Aria as if she were her daughter.

At that moment, a connection was made between Celeshura and Nero. The reasons were different. But the purpose was the same.

“Okay. Let’s go.”

And so, the Dark Elf and the Phantom Beast Coeurl set out for the land of the west. Following their own feelings.

“Elena, are you still fine?”

“…Yes, I’m still fine, Aria.”

After taking a nap until the evening, Elena and I started to move when the temperature dropped.

Elena’s body was stronger now that the Magic Stone in her heart had been reduced in size, but she still lacked the physical strength of a normal person. Rather than spending time here preparing to cross the desert, we decided that we should avoid the ruins and aim for a village with people while we still had enough food and strength.

We were not moving at random because Elena had memorized a map of the geography of this continent, from which we guessed the location of the people.

If we went south from the ruins of the ancient city, we would find the Khalfaan Empire, but we would have to walk several kilometers to get there. It would take several months to get there on foot, however, and I could only assume that it would be reckless to travel that far.

Since there were ruins, I thought, there was a good chance that there would be a place where adventurers seeking materials and magic stones would gather. It would be a gamble, but it would be better than wandering around aimlessly looking for them.

Where might a place like that be located? The ruins were large, but unless the area was entirely self-sufficient, we both thought it would be somewhere along a straight line between the ruins and the Khalfaan Empire, somewhere near a rocky area where there would be flat land and water.

Given Elena’s physical strength, daytime travel would be dangerous. At night, there was a possibility of being attacked by monsters, but once away from the ruins, the monsters would not be so strong.

[Giii!]

Elena’s water magic stopped the movement of the one-meter-long beetle-type monster, and I jumped in and slashed its head off by thrusting my knife through a gap in its shell.

Although it was a monster of about Rank 2, I could not let my guard down against a first-time enemy. Insects-type monsters could live for a while even if I cut off their heads, but that should eliminate the threat for now.

Normally, we would have dismantled it to get materials and Magic Stone, but for now, we focused only on moving on.

Having set a goal, Elena became more positive and not only protected me in battle, but also asked for my direction. If that made her a little bit stronger….

If it were just me, I could survive, even if I had to eat the flesh of monsters. But Elena would not. She knew that as well, which was why Elena started to desperately struggle to stay alive.

“Let’s go.”

“Yes.”

Elena’s face showed a slight hint of exhaustion.

Elena was strong…yet fragile.

She would not like to be held back as a weakling or a liability. Knowing this, I extended my hand to her as she walked behind me, and Elena extended hers with a small smile.

We moved at night and rested in the shade of rocks during the day. We hunted rock lizards and ate their meat, and four days after our departure, we finally found a small town on the rocky terrain where we had been moving.
