Girls Sinking in Darkness Part 1

“What are you doing? Carla!”

Amol stood up, slamming the table, and turned his sharp gaze on Carla.

The tea was splashed from the head of the young lady who was sitting with the Crown Prince. It was natural to be accused of doing such a thing, but Carla, who had an undaunted sarcastic smile on her face as she was confronted not by the Crown Prince, who was the highest-ranking person, nor the Lady in question, but Amol, the King’s brother.

“Would those of you who have nothing to do with this, stay out of this?”

“Hah!”

Amol, who was born into royalty and had never been told such a thing in his life, was unable to find words to respond.

Carla, moving silently, ignoring the atmosphere of the place, looked down at Nathaniel, who was sitting next to Ervan.

“You need to leave as well.”

“Kuh…”

Carla gracefully sat down in Nathaniel’s seat as he tumbled out of his chair as if pushed out of it, and then the frozen time began to move.

“You!”

“Oh, my dear King’s brother, you are in a wonderful mood, it seems. How are Elle and Clara doing?”

It was as though she were noticing his presence for the first time. But ignoring their presence before her eyes, Carla smiled only at Ervan and Clara.

Carla’s position was that of a countess, but as the Crown Prince’s fiancée, Carla, who was confirmed to be the second Queen, was treated as quasi-royalty.

She was below Amol, the King’s brother, in status, and even if she married and became the second Queen, she would only be on the same level as Amol, but when she obtained the [Gift], politically, Carla was already above Amol.

However, Carla, who was still only the Crown Prince’s fiancée, could be seen as disrespectful to Amol, who was the King’s brother. Amol, who had just witnessed the burning of the Rank 6 Minotaur Murder, felt an invisible pressure and could not say anything more, but could only grit his teeth.

“Wait, wait! Licia, are you okay? Somebody, help Licia!”

Ervan interrupted them and called out to the back of the room while holding a hand on Alicia’s shoulder, and saw her young butler rushing up to her.

“What are you doing, Carla?”

Ervan, who was not very high-spirited, turned a strong gaze on Carla, who was sitting next to him. Behind him, Nathaniel, who had been deprived of his seat and ignored without even being called by name, glared at Carla as if to comfort Alicia despite his fear.

“Hmmm, I just heard that the lovely Elle-sama picked up a stray dog, so I came over to watch. Well, it stinks. I thought the smell of the tea would mask it a little, but the smell of a stray never goes away. Excuse me.”

The men’s eyes widened at Carla’s not-so-subtle mannerisms.

“Carla…you. How can you say such horrible things!”

“Wait, Elle-sama. I’m fine!”

Alicia stopped Ervan, who was about to sit up unconsciously, clinging to him from the side.

“…Licia.”

“Carla-sama is just in a bad mood. It’s because I have been treated kindly by Elle-sama, Amol-sama, and Nathaniel-kun…”

Clutching Ervan’s arm as if to rub her still immature body against it, Alicia gently took Ervan’s hand and casually guided it toward her own body.

“Well, that is an odd thing to say. It makes you sound like a lascivious man who, despite having a fiancée, is indulging his love for another woman.”

“….”

Ervan looked away slightly at Carla’s ridiculing words.

“I’m not.”

“Oh, dear, you sure are right. Clara-sama. They are really being noisy.”

“…”

Clara, who had been listening intently to the exchange, glanced lightly back at Carla and then stood up, turning her contemptuous gaze on the men and Alicia.

“It seems like I will just be spoiling the fun. I’m leaving now.”

“Clara!”

Clara stood up from her seat, and when Ervan finally remembered that he had called Clara here to question the truth behind her outburst to Alicia, Clara looked a little sad, and then looked down at the men with a cold gaze.

“Elle, my opinion does not change. You may play with fire a little, but at least let it be someone who has discipline. And besides…”

“”…””

Amol and Nathaniel were about to retort to Clara’s comment when Clara stopped them with a strong tone.

“Amol-sama? You are here as a teacher, but it seems as if you are favoring one particular student over another. What is the point of being Royalty if you don’t even serve as a role model as the King’s brother? And Nathaniel, if you are going to enter priesthood, what would the head of the temple think of you indulging in the company of women? Where is my brother to watch over you and that person from the Melrose family? Aren’t they the ones who should be here?”

Amol and Nathaniel grit their teeth at Clara’s words. They could not say anything back because there was nothing wrong with what she said.

And Ervan, who was implicitly blamed for the absence of his original aides and friends, namely the frontier Count, distorts his mouth in a pained manner.

There was nothing wrong with what she said. Still, to Ervan, the feeling was different.

Amol and Nathaniel turned their hateful eyes on the young ladies, who were like “villains” in a stage play, who were disgracing Alicia, the woman who had acknowledged their feelings for them, and who was receiving harsh words from the two young ladies.

Clara, who let out a mocking sigh, turned her back and walked away, her thin back reminding Ervan of their childhood together, and her face like that of a little child who was about to cry at their relationship that had changed.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, too. Elle-sama… your face right now is quite lovely. Hmmm.”

Carla smiled happily at Ervan’s pained face, stood up, touched Ervan’s cheek gently, and whispered.

“Beautiful, beautiful prince. Get more dirty, suffer more. Then you will be a good King, just the way I want you to be. I will pick up your burnt bones.”

“Hiii!”

Ervan felt the physical heat from Carla’s fingertips, which were touching him, and he jerked back.

It was an outburst that could not have been a moment of passion, but the Royal Guard around them had no idea what Carla had done, and even those who had noticed were so consumed by the strange ominous energy that Carla was giving off that no one could move.

Carla’s desire was to defile Ervan. It was one of Carla’s few amusements watching the innocent man betray those who loved and were loved by him, become sullied and wounded, and fall from a sense of responsibility.

In such a bizarre atmosphere, Alicia’s eyes, the only one with a dark light in them, and Carla’s gaze intertwine head-on.

Alicia’s eyes were the embodiment of darkness in a human form different from Carla’s, a demon of desire that stains Ervan.

Still, Carla’s smile was like a thick, poisonous swamp, not even comparable to that of the girl who was as vivid as a gleaming blade in the darkness.

“That was delightful. See you again, Elle-sama.”

“…”

Alicia gently touches her fingers to Ervan’s scalded and flushed cheek as the two Crown Prince’s fiancées leave, leaving him unable to utter words.

“Elle-sama is not wrong. You are human, you can run away when you are in pain. If you are in pain, I will be there for you.”

“Licia…”

Amol and Nathaniel let out an impressed gasp as Alicia smiled at them innocently.

Under the table…Alicia, who took Ervan’s still hesitant hand and pressed her inexperienced body against his arm, held his arm as he reflexively tried to step aside and softly whispered in his ear the moment his consciousness turned to her.

“I will… heal you.”
