Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 157.1
Prologue of War
It was almost two months since Elena and I arrived in the desert town of Cutlass.
We have been in a vague state of [non-interference as much as possible] with the Munza Group, a group of beastmen. The reason for the “as much as possible” status was that the Munza Group would dispose of the corpses free of charge if something happened to them because of the involvement of the bloodthirsty end members.
Under a promise with the Munza Group, the advanced Potion we made would be wholesaled directly to the Hogloss Trading Company, and although we were able to collect the money, we no longer held a connection to the Khalfaan Empire with their trading company, as we had become enemies with the Kirli Trading Company.
I was now walking alone on the main street of Cutlass.
In the blazing sun, dark-skinned Cruzians, tanned dwarves, and beastmen were busily at work.
Being busy was not the same thing as being lively. Food was expensive in this desert town, and the only way to obtain it cheaply was to join an organization, and if you joined an organization, you had to pay a miserly fee, and as a result, people had to struggle desperately to obtain expensive food.
Although this town was like a slum, the poor and vagrants did not pickpocket or steal. They know that if they were caught in this town, they would be killed unquestionably.
It takes “power” to survive in this town. If you had the power, you wouldn’t even have to steal, you could just take everything from the weak.
But…it was not my imagination that I felt a slight tension in such a town as usual.
The soles of my leather boots clatter on the stone slabs and sand as I arrive at my destination.
As I removed the hood of my cloak and dared to expose my bare face, the buzz of the adventurers in the Adventurers’ Guild of the Hogloss Trading Company grew louder for a moment, and then the sound faded away as if a wave had receded.
In the taut silence, the beastmen, who were probably aware of the arrangement with the Munza Group, looked away from me with a slight hint of hostility – and more than a hint of fear.
The Cruzian adventurers, who were unfamiliar with the situation, wondered about the beastmen and me, but they were silent, sensing the strange atmosphere.
And the dwarves, the most powerful of the adventurers’ guilds in the area, asked,
“What do you want? The Mercenian woman.”
A young dwarf, about my height but three times my weight, stood in front of me, blocking my way.
“We’ve already talked about this Potion business. Check it out.”
“I don’t know anything about that. How can a white woman of the humans think she can get through to me here!”
With his Gauntlet made of beetle shells, he sent a punch at me.
With a combat power of about 500…that would knock out a normal person in the upper Rank 3.
It might be a test of his skill, or perhaps he simply didn’t like my attitude, but judging by the fist that was suddenly but seriously swung, he was able to read his opponent’s strength to a certain extent.
Just by looking at his thick arms, he should have more muscle strength than me, who strengthened my body. He certainly possessed the strength. He also seemed to be prepared not to let his guard down, even if his opponent was a woman. But that’s all… and then.
“Gah!?”
The man’s jaw was struck by a counter palm strike, which made the shortly trimmed black beard turn over.
The man grinned, blood spilling from his mouth, as even my glove with a magic-iron plate could not shatter the strong Dwarf’s jaw. The man raised his fist again. But I would not wait for the dwarf with low agility to attack me.
I reach out for the man’s arms, twisting them around his arms as he backs away, and drive my knee into his elbow joint with all my might.
*Creak!
“Guaaah!?”
The man, whose arm was broken on the opposite side, rolled around holding his arm in extreme pain.
The dwarves who had been watching from the sidelines stood up as if enraged. At that moment, however, a heavy voice echoed through the guild, causing them to tremble.
“What is the matter with you people?”
Zilgan, a Rank 4 Dwarf warrior and the leader of the Hogloss Trading Company, appeared with footsteps that rattled the ground, causing not only the Dwarves but all the adventurers to turn pale.
