“Chaco Nee-chan…. Is everyone alright….”

“Un…we’re fine.”

Rana the Dwarf anxiously held Chaco’s hand, while Noi the Dark Elf looked like he was about to cry, but stoutly stared out as the only boy.

Naru, the youngest Dog-Beastman, went outside by himself and did not return; everyone was worried about Naru and wanted to go looking for him, but still the three who remained here knew that waiting was an important part of their role.

Ron and Rena, who had gone to look for her…and Aria, who had returned afterward, had taught them that.

Chaco was a little scared of Aria. Even though he knew that she had cured Noi’s illness and risked her life to save Chaco from the Mun Group, she had a harder way of life than any adult Chaco had ever known, and when he stood in front of her, he was afraid that she would scold him for not doing anything.

She was strict with herself and others…surely the kindest person anyone could ever be.

Someone who would risk her own life for someone else.

Because Aria was such a person, Chaco was afraid to tell her that Rena had gone to look for Naru.

The person Aria wanted to protect the most was Rena; even though she cared for Chaco and the children, it was Rena who was in Aria’s most cherished.

Aria and Rena had no obligation to protect Chaco and the children; Rena chose to help Naru by seeing something, the bigger world that Chaco could not see, but how would Aria feel when Rena, the person she wanted to protect the most, acted dangerously? 

Would Aria be angry with Rena? 

Would Aria be unhappy with Chaco and the others for getting Rena involved? 

Aria, who had been silently listening to Chaco’s words, nodded quietly.

Chaco thought about Aria’s feelings and was about to summon up the courage to say something to Aria, when suddenly Aria’s hand gently stroked Chaco’s head.

[You did your best.]

How much relief those short, simple phrases must have brought to Chaco and the others. Her words had that much power. Aria understood that it was scary to believe in one’s friends and simply wait for them to come back.

Aria would have liked to go to Rena right now, but she patted Chaco and the anxious children on the head first.

Chaco was about to speak to Aria, wondering if he should at least say a word to her about Rena, but in the fleeting light of going outside…he saw a slight smile on Aria’s profile and swallowed the words, feeling their connection.

“Aria-san…take care of everyone.”

Returning to the tower where we were based, I heard from Chaco and ran back out into the desert.

It could be different since it was a child’s behavior, but if Naru had gone to look for red rushes used in alchemy, I had a few places in mind, but there are only so many places a child’s feet can take them.

It had been about half an hour since Elena and Ron left the tower. There should be no monsters in this area that the two of them cannot defeat, but we could not be too careful since there were demons that had drifted away from the ruins due to the effects of the runaway stampede of demons.

In addition, there were suspicious people like the Dark Elf and the Crucians that we saw in the town. I did not know why they were doing what they were doing, but it was probably a good thing.

I put the magic recovery potion I had prepared in my mouth, and while recovering the magic power that had been depleted up to this point, I ran through the desert at once by strengthening my body.

If the two of them were moving while looking for Naru, it shouldn’t be too far. As I ran at more than three times the speed of a normal person, I kept my eyes on the flow of magic power in the air, and I was convinced that something was going on in this direction when I detected a faint sensation of water and dark magic element, which I recognized as the corpse of a monster.
