Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 165.1
The Town in Flames
[The main group is on the move. We will now begin action.]
[Oooh!]
Cruzians in various parts of the desert town of Cutlass responded to the words of the Dark Elf, whose face was hidden by a hood, with shouts of joy.
There were two types of [Dark Elf] in this town.
One group was born in this town or elsewhere, and their mentality was not so different from that of the Forest Elf, but the other group was those who had originated in the Demon Nation and were proud to be [Evil Race] citizens of the Demon Nation, even if they were away from their country.
Dark Elves were persecuted and exiled from their rich lands by the [Holy Church] that came to the Sarth Continent in the past, who declared them “evil”. In order not to forget this history, the Dark Elves took on the derogatory name of “demons,” and repeatedly fought against the nations and their people who adhered to the teachings of the Holy Church.
Most of the Demon Race citizens, even those who have left the country, were soldiers of the Demon Army, and if they did not want to be soldiers, they had to flee and hide or become refugees like some of the other races. Even if they have moved to this town and have made friends of the humans, drinking and laughing with them, they were still under the command of the Demon Nation, which placed the blade in their hands.
The Cruzians of the Rizan group did not understand this.
The purpose of the Rizan group was to seize control of this town, to bring the demons into their ranks as mercenaries, and to reduce the power of the other factions. They did not understand the true nature of the Demons, believing that even the Demons were motivated by money.
The Demon Army’s goal was to make this town a military base that would serve as a foothold for the invasion of the Khalfaan Empire.
To this end, they made an apparent pact with the Rizan group and used them to blockade the town. The demons then gave the Rizan group demonic equipment and forces and encouraged them to attack the other three factions’ strongholds as well as the town, saying that this was necessary for their purposes.
(Stupid people…)
One Dark Elf snickered at the smoke rising from the town in the distance.
The town’s attack was led by the Dark Elf and others who were in this town, but there were a few Demon Tribe soldiers mixed in to negotiate with the Rizan group. One of them, Ghiva, a Rank 3 sorcerer, had taken up a position on one of the main roads in the wall surrounding the town and was attacking the caravans and residents who were trying to escape with the Rizan group.
But that was only until the main body of the Demon Army arrived. The Rizan group seems to think that the Demon Army will eliminate the hostile forces in town, but in fact, once the main army arrives, the armed Rizan group, like the other factions, will no longer be needed.
“Ora, you think we’re going to let you go?”
“S, stop–“
The men of the Rizan group attacked the caravan that was trying to escape, and the blood of the slain escort, an adventurer, splattered and was sucked into the thirsty earth.
The town was sealed off to prevent the flow of information to the Khalfaan empire.
Even if the town was to be used as a frontline base, there was a risk of a counterattack if the Khalfaan Empire learned of it before its forces were ready. The merchants and adventurers were also members of the Khalfaan Empire, and the Demon Army could not let them escape.
