“Director. I’ve brought Pumpkin-dono.”
“Alright. Come in.”
“Excuse me.”
The woman and Pumpkin entered the room after the door marked “Director’s Office” had received a response from within.
With an emphasis on functionality, a reception desk and a chair were set up in the room. An elderly Elf with a fine beard was occupying the chair.
“You have come a long way, haven’t you? Pumpkin-dono. Please sit over there.”
“Thank you for taking the time to see me on such short notice. Now, please excuse my manners.”
Having answered the old man’s words, Pumpkin seated himself in the chair positioned directly across from the old man.
Despite his aloof demeanor, the old man’s eyes were keen, reflecting his many years of experience, which revealed a variety of emotions swirling in the depths of his gaze.
Well, Pumpkin supposed that he was evaluating him.
“Now, let me introduce myself. I am Marquis Genia=Kelp Madosa, Lord of Madosa and Director of the Madosa Institute. As you can tell from my name, I am a reincarnated individual.”
“I am Baron Pumpkin Samsara, the dragon-slaying sorcerer. I am here as the guardian of Uriko Maunpir and Majik=Taiga Samsara Egg. Your name is unknown to me, but I am also a reincarnated person. Pleased to meet you today.”
“Hmm. It is my pleasure to meet you.”
After the greetings, Marquis Madosa and Pumpkin exchanged handshakes.
The surnames of Uriko and Majik were adopted from the names of the villages they came from as part of a countermeasure against those who would try to distinguish between aristocrats and non-aristocrats by their surnames within the institute.
“As for this occasion, I can assume that a meeting took place between me the Director, and the dragon-slaying sorcerer, is that right?”
“Right. I think that my title and the Director’s title might provoke some unwelcome rumors.”
Before getting down to business, a few further exchanges took place after both parties clarified their respective positions.
“The reason I requested a meeting with you this time is to discuss some matters concerning life here about Uriko Maunpir.”
“Let me tell you first, if you are asking for lenient test grading or some other accommodation in dormitory life, that’s out of the question, you know?”
“That is not in the best interest of the student, so even for me, I would decline. In a sense, it may be akin to offering accommodations though.”
“Hmm… Let me hear what you have to say then.”
“Thank you. So, the subject of the discussion is…”
Pumpkin was ready to tell the Director what he desired to discuss with him about when…
From the direction of the examination site where Uriko and the others were, a massive explosion reverberated throughout the Institute.
“What happened!?”
“Majik… with you on it…”
The Director immediately responded to the inexplicable explosion and employed some magic beside the woman by his side—who was probably his secretary. A lot of instructions were issued after calling the secretary and questioning her about it.
The magic employed by the Director was likely communication, exploration, and defense magic to cope with this kind of emergency situation. In addition to his rapid reaction, the Director gave off the impression of being highly experienced in handling situations of this nature.
Pumpkin, in all honesty, was aware of the reason for the explosion.
Because a pillar consisting of high-density magic power could be seen emerging into the sky from the examination room right before the explosion.
“Pumpkin-dono. Now I understand why you sought a discussion with me.”
“Do you get it now?”
Several minutes after that, the Director of the Institute, who had grasped the situation and gathered all the information, approached Pumpkin with a subtly pale face.
“May I ask what happened?”
“Sure. Please explain.”
“Yes.”
After receiving the Director’s words, the secretary standing next to him started explaining what had occurred.
So, here was the summary of the story.
At first, both Uriko and Majik were quietly undergoing the examination.
They followed Pumpkin’s instructions and attempted to complete the test with a moderate amount of magic power when they were tested to determine the amount and density of magic power since they were in the magic department. But the details were not known because it was under questioning, but the son of some aristocrat apparently made fun of Uriko and Majik and engaged in a physical altercation with them.
Well, the rest goes without saying. Uriko went berserk and unleashed all of her magic power after being ridiculed, not just for herself but also for Majik, who had grown up alongside her like a brother.
“Fortunately, she came to her senses immediately, so the only damage was to the roof of the gymnasium and to the examination equipment that was affected by the aftermath, but the amount of magic power observed was comparable to that of the court sorcerers during the full force of the magic power release.”
“I see…”
“Is… that so…”
In actuality, there was one thing about which the Director and the secretarial woman were mistaken.
They said Uriko fully unleashed her magic power, but that was untrue. Not only did Uriko have Pumpkin’s own magic power maneuvering skills, but she was also proficient in body enhancement magic that would allow her to go toe-to-toe with a full-fledged wyvern. That pillar of magic power was only the result of Uriko’s body enhancement magic, in other terms.
Furthermore, striking a normal human with such a level of body enhancement will vaporize the parts that come in contact with them in addition to blowing them up or causing them to shrivel up. And most attacks, including wyvern’s breath and basilisk’s magical eye, will be semi-automatically neutralized and resisted.
To put it bluntly, if used on a human level, it would be a deadly weapon. Pumpkin, however, dared not mention a word of this to the Director and the others.
“Now, I already know most of the details, but I would like to hear from you what you would like to discuss.”
“Right. My question is about Uriko’s curriculum.”
Pumpkin, therefore, urged the Director to incorporate as many lessons on morality, ethics, and common knowledge in Uriko’s curriculum as possible in order to prevent further unrest.
At any rate, I sympathize with Uriko and the children of her classmates… who must be facing a lot of hardships.
