“Whew… what should I do now?”
In front of the dried-up carcass of a boar that had been drained of blood and fluids, with a slight burp in his throat, he contemplated briefly.
First of all, regarding the current state of his body, some of the joints have been sore from subduing the rampaging boar… though he didn’t know whether he should call them “joints” or not since those were his body’s vines.
However, perhaps owing to the passage of time, or due to the boar’s blood, or maybe as a result of recovery through photosynthesis, the pain has already started to subside.
Therefore, he was facing no issue.
“For now, I should at least rip off the tusks.”
The meat and skin of the boar’s carcass were left untouched since it was useless to him, but the tusks, which emitted a red phosphorescent glow when the boar was alive, were ripped from their roots and wrapped around his vines.
And then gradually, there was the presence of other creatures in the surroundings, which made him decide to fly away from the place again.
———–
“Hmm. I don’t feel as threatened as I felt back then…”
On the treetop, he looked at the boar’s tusks.
However, the tusks were not as strong and sharp as they were when the boar was alive.
The fact that the phosphorescence has also disappeared suggested that this phenomenon was limited to when the boar was alive.
“Besides… mun!”
As if to pour his energy into the vine, he pushed it into one of the vines.
The vine had noticeably hardened more than when fighting the boar, and a green phosphorescent light was leaking from the vines, albeit not as bright as the boar’s fangs.
“It’s unexpected that the light has come out, but it’s evidently getting stronger.”
He muttered to himself as he examined the vine.
Now, I need to figure out why it’s getting stronger and what this light is.
On top of that, he may have to wrap his head around why he didn’t feel guilty when he killed the boar, or how he can manipulate his body, which differed vastly from when he was a human, without any discomfort.
My name is… come to think of it, I can’t remember it, but forget it, I’ll just make up an appropriate name if I need it later on.
“Yeah.”
First of all, his reasoning as to why he became stronger was that he defeated a boar, which would be a standard practice in another world or something like that.
Perhaps it was not because he defeated the boar, but because he sucked its blood.
And as for what this light was… he did not know. It could be magic or mana or something of that nature in the standard sense, but the information available was too scarce to make a definitive judgment.
In any case, all that was known about this light was that it could be gathered by projecting an image of power into it, that when it was concentrated, that portion of the light would be reinforced, and that it would be fortified if the criteria were fulfilled.
“Hmph.”
“Kyu!?”
He subsequently drove his root into a rat that was lurking behind a tree, waiting for an opportunity to attack him while producing phosphorescent light from its front teeth, and drained all of its blood.
Each time he sucked the blood, a rush of savory emotions welled up in his head, so his body was apparently like a vampire, relishing the taste of blood.
“The question is, how is it that I can move this body so effortlessly and feel no guilt when I kill animals like this?”
He thought about what had transpired regarding his altered state of mind.
The fact that the body can operate without difficulty and that he can kill animals guilt-free posed neither a problem nor a threat to his survival in this environment, but failing to recognize the reason for the shift was unnerving.
In other words, the fact that such things were occurring without him consciously noticing it meant that there was a possibility that his head would be messed with again in the future without him being aware of it.
Before I could even realize it, I will lose myself. That is a truly terrifying prospect.
Therefore, he believed that the cause of this matter ought to be ascertained at the earliest opportunity.
“Well, I can’t do anything about it at the moment.”
Once he had ripped the front teeth out of the rat, he hurled the dead rat as far away from him as possible.
In fact, he didn’t even have a clue what this world was supposed to be like. So he had no idea where to begin.
Hence, the first thing to know would be about himself and this forest.
After concluding this, he went to sleep, gazing at the full moon in the darkening sky when the sun had set.

“Munya.”
On the next day, he woke up and went to yesterday’s stream to rehydrate himself, and then went through photosynthesis to secure some energy for the time being.
Yeah. Being able to perform this kind of thing without any difficulty reminds me that I am adapted to my body.
“Well, that’s beside the point.”
The vines and roots that were spreading aimlessly were bundled up.
Following yesterday’s battle with the boar, it became clear that bundling the vines in this manner would not only strengthen his body but also strengthen his ability to constrict and tighten the opponent’s body, which would be advantageous in terms of minimizing the parts of the body that would be struck by an attack.
When he had finished organizing the vines to a certain extent, he created something like hands by weaving and twisting the vines together. Given the precision with which he can maneuver the vines, this would allow him to handle them as if they were real hands.
Furthermore, if the shape turned out to be too complicated, or if the vines were too tightly bound, the flexibility would be lost, but he concluded that at this level, there would be no problem.
As for the legs, since he can fly in the sky, he did not make them as he considered them unnecessary.
“The first step is to find a base.”
Finally, a spine-like shaft grew out of the pumpkin’s fruit section. When it seemed to have grown two hands in the middle of the process, he started flying around the forest seeking a place where he could first safely shield himself from the rain and dew.
