“This pumpkin son of mine really is!”
“Ouch! Ouch!? You’re hurting me, damn you father!!”
“Shut up!”
Dear Lean-sama.
I arrived at Maunpir Village to assess the damage and was immediately put in a headlock by Tangosack. This seriously hurts.
Damn. If it was an arm lock, it wouldn’t have any effect on me…
“Well, this much is enough. So, what happened?”
“Oh, is it over?”
“It was a brilliant ending.”
“For the first time, every man in the village has assembled.”
“Ouchhhhh… Ah, excuse me for stopping by.”
After being freed from Tangosack’s headlock, the Maungpir villagers all gathered around the bonfire, even though it was midnight.
As for the rain, it had ceased before long. Well, this only made it easier to have a conversation.
“Don’t worry about it; just hurry up with the explanation. Even from the village we could spot the lightning streaking skyward as well as the pumpkin-shaped clouds rising.”
“Then, I’ll explain it.”
Pumpkin then provided the explanation of the battle against the Entdragon to them.
The specifics were that the three fools aroused the Entdragon, and that Pumpkin had employed explosive-type magic to finish the dragon off, which resulted in the ground shaking.
Though the fact that he was originally going to hunt with Mizuki and about Mizuki personally was not disclosed.
Mizuki was reluctant to let people know about her for some reason.
“So, that’s about it.”
[[[…]]]
And once the whole episode was over, the Maunpir villagers fell silent and…
“So it’s those three fools who are responsible for this.”
“Those three fools are the same people who came to the village earlier in the day, right?”
“But they had permits to enter the forest, remember?”
“Perhaps those were fakes?”
“That’s possible. Their attitude was terrible considering they are high-ranking adventurers.”
“We’ll confirm it next time when another adventurer comes along.”
“Right. If those are fakes, I’ll never forgive them.”
This level of complaints immediately followed after the explanation.
Yes, they had it coming, but if I recall, their name is the same as the one who was responsible for the Hunting Bee incident, and if they are the same people, there’s no need to defend them or anything. In fact, it would be better to make them go missing.
Hahaha. The forest is a lawless place, you know…
“At any rate, you saved the village, didn’t you?”
“That may not be necessarily true, though.”
“You don’t have to be so modest, you know.”
“Yeah.”
Pumpkin garnered plaudits from the villagers for taking down the Entdragon and ultimately saving the village… but to be honest…
“The village has nonetheless sustained some damage…”
By the light of the bonfire, the villagers and their buildings were lit up.
Each structure sustained some degree of damage, and several of the villagers who had congregated there were hurt as well.
Since the Entdragon’s attack should not have spread to Maunpir Village, the origin of their injuries was probably the tremors brought on by his [Resonance Spell?Atomic Pumpkin].
Moreover, the magic power dispersed at the time of the explosion must have affected them, so Pumpkin was wondering about that as well.
“Don’t be anxious, the only injuries I’ve seen are from people banging their heads on wardrobes or tripping and falling in their haste to escape from the house, and those kinds of injuries are a common occurrence when working on the farm.”
“If the building is only somewhat damaged like that, it can be fixed in no time.”
“So there’s no need for you to be worried about it, Pumpkin.”
The villagers, perhaps sensing the meaning of his gaze, offered words of encouragement to Pumpkin.
Ah, yeah. Everybody in this village is really nice… I am no match for them. And it would be rather disrespectful to all of you if I’m still showing hesitation.
If that’s the case.
“I understand. Then at least let me treat you.”
“You don’t have to do that…”
“So this is about the phrase, ‘draw a line’ huh. My pumpkin son.”
“That’s what I intend to do.”
Just as Tangosack said, he’ll at least treat their wounds as a sign of compensation.
“Take care of it for me, will you?”
“Yes.”
And it was decided that everyone in Maunpir Village would be treated with [Resonance Spell?Heal].
——————
So, after finishing all of the treatment and taking a short nap, daylight eventually came.
“Oh, by the way, where’s Uriko?”
“She’s sleeping soundly.”
Pumpkin asked Tangosack about Uriko’s condition before heading for his house together to check her out.
Pumpkin was still concerned about the repercussions of the magic power that was dispersed around even if there shouldn’t be any injuries on her. He had the impression that none of the houses seemed to have any patients who were suffering Magic Intoxication after visiting each one for treatment. But in the end, he was still worried.
“I’m home.”
“Welcome home. Oh, hello, Pumpkin-kun.”
“Excuse me, Kimiko-san.”
Upon entering the house, he greeted Kimiko, who led the way to the back of the house, where he met Uriko.
“Da-!”
“Ah, I get it…”
And the instant he caught sight of Uriko flailing her arms and legs adorably in a basket of wire vines, it became clear to him why there were no patients in Maunpir Village who were suffering from Magic Intoxication.
Uriko’s magic power was evidently increasing.
It was most likely that Uriko had assimilated all of the magic present in the air around here and made it her own. Even though she was Pumpkin’s little sister, what she was doing was unbelievable… Not to mention that she was doing something really spontaneous like strengthening her body—to manipulate her magic power so as not to lure unwelcome adversaries.
How should I put it, I am very much looking forward to the future and at the same time I am fearful of it.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I was simply pondering the existence of a genius…”
[[?]]
“Da-!”
The words left Pumpkin’s lips involuntarily, but Tangosack and Kimiko didn’t grasp what he was saying.
