Drifting Ship Disturbance (13) – An Advice
The Fourth Imperial Prince, Prince Tsetsedra was a man who, because of a famous play, would be remembered in the later generation as a tragic prince.
That man was now standing in front of me, facing Rays-sama with a stiff expression, most likely because he was nervous.
“Tsetsedra Delassa-sama. I am Rays Stein, and it’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for taking your valuable time to receive us.”
After receiving Rays-sama’s bow, Prince Tsetsedra appears to be even more nervous.
“Ah, um…”
Prince Tsetsedra gave General Gafor a hesitant look.
General Gafor bent his body and whispered to Prince Tsetsedra. Meanwhile, Rays-sama stood with his head lowered.
Prince Tsetsedra cleared his throat with a small cough as General Gafor stood straight again.
“Your people’s chivalry has saved the people of my kingdom. Despite some differences between our two countries, at least for today, I give you a warm welcome. Also…I am pleased to witness the historic moment when the Rudek’s 10th Division steps onto the Imperial land.”
After hearing the prince’s later statements, General Gafor frowned. Was the Prince’s later words his real intention of meeting with us?
He was right. This was the first time Rudek’s forces had successfully entered imperial territory. I felt a shudder. I was now witnessing a page in history, just as Prince Tsetsedra had said.
But no historical record I’d read about Rudek or the Empire mentioned this event. In other words, this was a piece of untold history.
Rays-sama finally raised his face and replied to Prince Tsetsedra with a word of gratitude after waiting for Prince Tsetsedra to complete speaking. It was as if Prince Tsetsedra’s previous hesitancy had never occurred.
“Then, permit me to introduce you to the Princess.”
Rays-sama stepped aside after saying so, clearing a path between Prince Tsetsedra and the carriage. Zora-san slowly opened the carriage door, allowing an elegant lady to come out.
Who the hell was she!!???
No, I mean, she has Luluria’s face, but how to put it… she looked like a princess? Well, yeah, Luluria was an actual princess, but her usual easygoing attitude vanished into thin air. She now exuded grace. If she acted like this from the start, I would never dared to speak to her in a friendly tone.
Ah, right, she did exude that kind of royal grace the first time I saw her. She only did it for a split second, so I completely forgot about it.
The knights of the 10th Division, who knew Luluria’s true personality, like myself, looked at Luluria in shock. The Imperial knights appear amazed by Luluria’s appearance. Luluria completely duped the imperial knights.
Prince Tsetsedra, with a reddened cheek, was also taken aback.
Prince Tsetsedra was also a royalty, but, how to explain it…Luluria was more royal-like? It was as if Luluria was higher nobility and the Prince was lower. Maybe it was because of a difference in their conviction? I mean, Luluria stayed calm even after the ship she was riding on lost control and she ended up drifting to a kingdom hostile to the Empire. It might be unfair to compare that kind of woman to a clearly sheltered young master like Prince Tsetsedra.
“Tsetsedra-sama! I can finally meet you! I’ve been looking forward to this moment!”
“a…ahem. Yes. I’m also delighted to meet you. You have been through a lot this time, and I am relieved to see you arrive safely at the Empire. I wanted to rush to pick you up as soon as I received the news, but because of the relationship between my country and Rudek Kingdom, I could not do so. Please accept my apology.”
“Please do not apologize! Rudek’s people have been really kind to me. Although, when staying in Rudek, I was deeply worried that I might not be able to meet you… ”
Worried??? She was??? Lies! I glanced at Wickharlt, who was definitely thinking the same thing I was.
“Ah, right. Prince Tsetsedra-sama, I’ve brought all of your letters with me.”
“You did!? Ah, no, I mean, I see…”
Prince Tsetsedra replied excitedly in response to Luluria’s words.
“Because of those letters, I didn’t feel like I was meeting you for the first time, Tsetsedra-sama.”
“I… I feel the same. I, too, have treasured the letters you wrote me. I am aware of your intelligence, but I never imagined you would be this graceful and beautiful. I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to marry a woman of your caliber.”
“My, you make me feel embarrassed, Tsetsedra-sama. I, too, am relieved to learn that Tsetsedra-sama is as kind as I have envisioned.”
“You..think so?”
Regardless of how long Luluria planned to act coy with Prince Tsetsedra, the 10th Division’s task was finally fulfilled.
In the midst of the relieved face of the knights from both sides, I ended up thinking of a completely unrelated thing.
A letter…right, I could just write them a letter.
The Fourth Imperial Prince, Prince Tsetsedra, died young as a result of the typical imperial family power struggle.
Prince Tsetsedra was killed because of a plot devised by his brother, the Second Imperial Prince. The Second Imperial Prince conspired with the ministers to seize control of the Empire. He took advantage of the emperor’s absence and led an army to take the Imperial Capital.
His plan went well at first, but when the Emperor returned to the Imperial Capital with his own army, his plan collapsed. The Second Imperial Prince was then captured.
Unfortunately, Prince Tstsedra was caught up in all of this.
He just has a bad luck. Prince Tsetsedra happened to be in the Imperial Capital at the same time the Second Imperial Prince tried to capture the capital.
With the exception of the First Imperial Prince, who was the heir to the throne, the Imperial Princes were each given their own territory to rule so they could learn how to administer a country. The imperial princes usually just stayed in their own territory.
I didn’t know why Prince Tsetsedra was staying in the Imperial Capital. The historical record merely stated that Prince Tsetsedra was at the Imperial Capital to see the Emperor, but the Emperor was not in the imperial Capital at the time, so he opted to stay to await the Emperor’s return.
But Prince Tsetsedra was suspected of conspiring with the Second Imperial Prince as a result of that. He stayed in the Imperial Capital to assist his brother in clearing the path to the Imperial Capital, or something along those lines.
Prince Tsetsedra denied it, but the Second Imperial Prince admitted it.
The cause for the Second Imperial Prince’s admittance was unknown.
The Second Imperial Prince was depicted in the play as seeking revenge on Prince Tsetsedra, the youngest prince who monopolized the Emperor’s love, and he also felt he might get pardoned if he involved the favored Prince Tsetsedra, but the truth was unknown.
The Emperor refused to listen to Prince Tsetsedra’s explanation because the Second Imperial Prince admitted to conspiring with him.
As a result, Prince Tsetsedra was captured and executed with the Second Imperial Prince on the charge of treason by a furious Emperor.
However, Prince Tsetsedra’s innocence was soon proven.
According to the play, Prince Tsetsedra’s wife informed the Emperor of the true reason the Prince traveled to the Imperial Capital, and the play concludes with the Emperor weeping in shame at his own ignorance.
I never met Prince Tsetsedra in my previous life.
This was the first time I have met Prince Tsetsedra, but I have spent a short time with his wife, Luluria. Borrowing Luluria’s own words, we were comrades who had eaten from the same pot.
I liked this free-spirited princess who was also good at acting.
That’s why.
Despite the fact that the Empire was the enemy of the Rudek Kingdom,
I decided to give her a small advice.
