Reincarnated into a Game as the Hero’s Friend - Chapter 222.3
I put these questions aside and asked Lily about her favorite fruits and dishes.
“Our inn also served water with herbs boiled in it.” (Lily)
“I wonder if it would be good for relieving fatigue or something.” (Welner)
As I listened to the various stories, I suddenly thought of something, or rather remembered something, but I guess that could wait until later.
In the afternoon, I visited a store that sells luxury goods. I would need perfume, accessories, and cosmetics, as well as clothes, since I would be socializing with aristocrats in the future.
Come to think of it, I haven’t paid much attention to such things until now. I understand why my mother gave Lily spare time today.
“Since we don’t know much about these things, I’ll ask the clerk.” (Welner)
“Yes.” (Lily)
Welner guessed that she also understood that they would need these things for their own use, but it could also become a topic of conversation when they had tea parties with other nobles.
Although Welner was asking many questions, honestly, he still mostly didn’t understand the explanations given by the clerk.
Speaking of which, Welner wanted to procure a crystal bottle again for perfume. Last one was broken during battle. He already prepared a better design than the previous one, and he also had some money to spare, that was the least he could do to apologize to Lily.
Welner didn’t want Lily to be bothered by his boredom, so he didn’t show any signs of it. Some of the customers who came to the store glanced at him, too, but he ignored them. He felt that as long as he kept talking to Lily from time to time, there would be no problem.
The only thing that made Welner laugh a little was that Neurath and Schunzel, who were guarding the outside of the store, were being stalked.
While Welner and Lily were inside the store, Neurath and Schunzel could not enter and had nowhere to run from prying eyes because they had to guard the two, so Welner could only whisper good luck to their work.
This definitely was not a retaliation against the two who secretly followed him when he was looking for a souvenir for Lily in Anheim.
Feeling sorry for the two, I instructed Neurath and Schunzel to bring our purchases to Count Zeavert’s residence, and since it was getting late, we headed home for the day. I regretted that Lily and I didn’t get to do much sightseeing, but she agreed with pleasure when I told her that we would do this again next time.
Then, after dinner, Father called to see me. Oh, dear.
“So, how did your day go?” (Ingo)
“Lily was unnecessarily exposed to danger because I didn’t use a carriage to get around.” (Welner)
I might have been relatively curt, but when I responded, my father chuckled and nodded.
“I assume you two were exposed to many prying eyes while you were out.” (Ingo)
“Yes. Was it necessary?” (Welner)
“It worked out well, but it could have been counterproductive if you’d been grumpy.” (Ingo)
That would only happen if I was in a bad mood, and I didn’t think I was. And it was fun, that’s for sure.
“Then that’s good. Besides, it should have been a nice change of pace for you.” (Ingo)
“I don’t deny that.” (Welner)
Was that, by any chance, really meant to be a vacation? Or maybe it was meant to be both. If so, I was a little disappointed.
“Besides, I’m sure it was just a nice break for Lily.” (Ingo)
“That’s for sure.” (Welner)
I was furiously sorry that I didn’t pay enough attention to that. Just as I was thinking that, my father changed the subject.
“There is a strong possibility that you will be going to war in the near future.” (Ingo)
“On that note, father, I would like to organize another scouting party.” (Welner)
“I understand. I will prepare a budget.” (Ingo)
“Thank you. I would also like to ask you to tighten up the Knight Order.” (Welner)
“I will take care of that as well.” (Ingo)
Currently, the owner of the Knight Order was definitely my father. I would only be the deputy commander. Besides, now my father had given me more credibility among the Knight Order. This was evident in the number of excellent knights, including Max. Therefore, it would be better to have my father do the tightening.
He laughed at me and said, “I think your name is enough to gather people,” but it was true that it was more stable to have the Count’s family behind you. It was a strange analogy, but it might be similar to the fact that a major company was more reassuring than a well-known sole proprietor when you were doing business with them.
I would like to use my title when I could, and I have no qualms about choosing the better option to win and survive. I should be ready to move forward with my preparations right away.
