Even though it was called the second city in the Territory of Coltrezis House, its size was very different from those in the kingdom’s direct domain, and it was not large enough to accommodate a massive number of knights and soldiers inside.

Numerous soldiers entered the city during the daytime attack, but at night, the majority of soldiers who followed inside went outside the city to camp in the open.

While preparations were being made for when the main body of the Kingdom Army would enter the city the next day, there should be no major disruptions, partly because soldiers had been strictly instructed not to act in a high-handed manner.

Earl Harfolk and Baron Dhonyani were in the lord’s mansion, while Viscount Welner and Baron Kvaernergel had separately taken over an inn in a city near the lord’s mansion as a temporary duty station.

The chain of command was directed by Viscount Welner, Baron Kvaernergel, and Baron Dhonyani, in that order. However, if the leaders were gathered in one place, in the event of a fire or other accident, the entire army could be paralyzed, so they were staying separately.

Most of the knights and squires on the side of the Coltrezis House fled almost as soon as Welner and his men entered the city. Many of them probably fled before they knew what had happened.

On the other hand, the guards, who were made up of people from Foan, surrendered meekly on the surface, but it was difficult to tell what they were thinking inwardly.

“For now, I hope there are no remnants of annoying groups like the Coffin Sarg, for example, around here.” (Welner)

“There’s always tomorrow, so we don’t know.” (Neurath)

On the night of the day the city was occupied, Welner was busy with Neurath, Schunzel, and others, mainly with paperwork.

The next day, the main body of the Kingdom Army and Crown Prince Hubert were to march in a sort of parade as they entered the city, partly to show that they had recaptured Foan from the rebel Coltrezis House.

Earl Harfolk was responsible for arranging things for the parade, and Baron Dhonyani was responsible for maintaining security in the city, while Welner was busy with paperwork related to the fort that had recently been defeated by them, which would serve as a staging post for the main supply route.

With the fall of the forts, there was no longer any need for the forcibly conscripted soldiers to watch over them, and they were to be replaced by subordinates of Count Vogler’s eldest son and Viscount Caulfield, who were to enter the fort where the supplies were being stored. There was still a lot of work to be done.

Of course, there were other duties as well, such as arranging rewards for knights and mercenaries who had served in the Zeavert Corps.

Welner was meticulously assessing the achievements of the adventurer parties that had been engaged in finding the Farlitz Army encampment and defeating the demons that had appeared along the supply route. 

Giving due credit to those who worked behind the scenes would help prevent looting and the like, but it would inevitably mean more work for Welner himself.

“But I never thought we would capture Foan here in this way.” (Neurath)

“The idea itself is the same as what the Demon Army was trying to do in Finnoi.” (Welner)

In Welner’s case, it was true that his knowledge was not original, more precisely it from his previous life. So, he responded to Neurath in an uninterested manner.

Schunzel spoke, “It would be a problem if we were to get a reputation for attacking similarly to the Demon Army.”

“I heard that bad poets imitate and good poets steal. A bad poet like me will imitate my enemies’ methods.” (Welner)

Welner replied, thinking of a poet who had said such a thing in his previous life. However, Welner did not want to stay in the territory of Coltrezis House for too long in the first place.

There was no guarantee that the royal capital was now absolutely safe. Moreover, the time spent mobilizing many troops should be kept as short as possible to reduce the financial burden on the kingdom. Welner’s true intention was to do whatever it took to get this over with quickly.
