Reincarnated into a Game as the Hero’s Friend - Chapter 234.3
“I don’t have any proof, but assuming that the King of Farlitz is a great ruler in terms of internal politics, this may have been a matter of security.” (Welner)
“Security?” (Mittag)
Viscount Crank and Viscount Mittag were a little older than me, almost the same age. Viscount Mittag appeared to be more competitive than Viscount Crank so he reacted to my words.
I didn’t have to worry about that, though, because when the Crown Prince was in charge, the person who slandered me would lose his reputation if he made false accusations. As for a sense of competitiveness, I didn’t care.
First, I explained that the Farlitz side might have been keeping watch of the situation, and then there was the oracle, and I also added my current hypothesis connecting those two.
“If the oracle was really true, then Farlitz’s position will be more in danger if they do not send someone at least on the rank of a prince even if they ended up in a loss. On the surface, they can declare it as a civil war between the Bain Kingdom and Coltrezis House, but behind the scenes, the story was clear on what Farlitz’s goals were.” (Welner)
“That is for sure.” (Crown Prince)
Baron Dhonyani nodded as the Crown Prince replied, and I nodded to him and continued.
“On the contrary, after sending a prince, if Coltrezis House wins, it will be the best outcome from Farlitz’s point of view. The next best outcome is if Coltrezis House was defeated but the territory itself defects to Farlitz.” (Welner)
“Hmmm….” (Crown Prince)
“If a certain number of people believe in the oracle that there will be a King from Coltrezis, Farlitz will be able to stir things up from within using it as an excuse.” (Welner)
“Hmm, with that, they can at least cause an upheaval in the Bain Kingdom.” (Crown Prince)
On this matter, they could instead have married Coltrezis’ second son to the daughter of the Farlitz royal family and used her as a banner for a serious foreign war. I didn’t know however what King Farlitz had in mind.
“In a worse case scenario, even if the fourth prince were to be captured, as long as a blood relative of Coltrezis House managed to escape and defected from Bain Kingdom, the defector could be captured and used in exchange for the fourth prince.” (Welner)
A few people looked at me with a perplexed expression. But that was just the way it was in the history of countries and nations in my previous life. A good ruler would know how to deal with the aftermath and make best use of captives.
Or, to put it more coldly, if a good ruler thought that captives could still be of use, he may keep them around as a replacement card. Otherwise… the ending of captives was obvious.
“Do you think that Coltrezis House is prepared to defect?” (Crown Prince)
“Perhaps, but I believe that the Farlitz side has told them about the skywalk. If the need arises, the head of the house could directly escape to Farlitz. This will add another card in the hand of Farlitz.” (Welner)
A few of them began to frown with difficulty, thinking what was the point of going to war if the rebel Coltrezis House were to flee even if Colts were to be invaded? Well, to me, it actually made sense politically.
Above all, it was almost certain that His Highness the Crown Prince would try to strengthen the royal authority and move toward centralization of power over the next ten years.
Grand Duke Seyfart, a ducal noble, had expressed his intention to return his lands to the royal family, and the territory of former Marquis Knapp was to be taken over by a royal deputy. So once the territory of Coltrezis House also came under the royal family’s direct control, the royal family’s dominion would increase incredibly.
On the other hand, noble families would undoubtedly have to bear the burden of cooperating with the Great Temple of Finnoi in the transportation of supplies, etc., and the nobles on the west side already had a large scar in their territory due to the passage of the demon army before the attack on the royal capital by the Four Heavenly Kings Mubreal. Some noble families had also been punished for their involvement in the Coffin Sarg.
To put it simply, the royal family had become so powerful because many of the nobles have lost either their political power, their fiefdoms, or both.
In this light, this might even be the only time in the long history of the Bain Kingdom when a major reform was possible.
Perhaps Duke Grunding and Prime Minister Falkenstein had agreed to this war since it would strengthen the kingdom. If they did not centralize the power within the kingdom, there was fear that the reconstruction of the country, which had been exhausted by the demon army, would be delayed.
If the Crown Prince were to strengthen his royal authority here, he would no longer have to rely on the faith of the church as the normal rulers did in my previous life, and he would be able to rule the kingdom more directly.
My thoughts jumped a little too far ahead. Anyway, it was certain that the timing was right for the Bain Kingdom if it would really like to destroy the seeds of unnecessary disturbances to make reforms. As I was thinking this, the crown prince turned his attention to me.
“What should we do next?” (Crown Prince)
“Well, since the time is just right, why don’t we ask Farlitz to cooperate with us?” (Welner)
“What?” (Others)
I noticed that the Crown Prince was smiling while some of the people around him looked at me suspiciously, and I thought to myself, “If you have a similar idea, don’t ask me about it”.
“You can simply declare that Farlitz went out of their way to send a prince from their side to help Coltrezis House. Even better, if we make it seem like Farlitz is now on the side of the Bain Kingdom, Coltrezis House will not be able to escape to Farlitz.” (Welner)

OK, didn’t understood immediately, but it’s misinformation campaign? First, threaten Farlitz with revealing their involvement at international scale, so they back off to avoid backlash, second, use Coltrezis house isolation to spread the news that Farlitz changed side in exchange of idiot prince, so without a way to verify info Coltrezis family is too afraid to run to “enemy” nation.
If wrong, some one correct me. Welner used too few words for me.
