Reincarnated into a Game as the Hero’s Friend - Chapter 235.2
The enemy’s will to fight was a factor that could not be ignored in operations. To put it bluntly, an army that was outnumbered but willing to do anything to win was most likely to have the final laugh.
Coltrezis House had fewer soldiers to begin with, but it was not a waste of time to check their will to fight.
If I may say so, the Bain Kingdom army could gauge the opponent’s will to fight while resting its own troops, which was not a small advantage.
However, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince seemed to have other ideas or purposes.
To be honest, I didn’t know all the details of the problems between the Bain Kingdom and Farlitz, so I guess the Crown Prince was trying to protect Farlitz’s honor by having captured Farlitz soldiers play an active role in defeating Coltrezis House.
This would hide the Farlitz Army’s humiliating defeat and instead they could march back to their country as if they were heroes who helped Bain Kingdom settle their local dispute but in reality they were actually beaten and used.
This would also help in settling some diplomatic disputes between the Bain Kingdom and Farlitz on terms favorable to the Bain Kingdom.
I would just leave that to them, or rather, there was no need for me to intervene.
“Welner-sama, someone has come to see you.” (Knight)
“Who?” (Welner)
While I was speaking with Neurath and the others, a knight outside interrupted me. I planned to turn him away if he was a trivial visitor, but when I heard the name, I was indeed a bit surprised. But it was too good to turn him away.
“Okay, I’ll meet them on the first floor.” (Welner)
“Ha.” (Knight)
The inn was rented out, so we were unable to prepare a proper meeting room, but since there were no other guests in the current situation, it should be safe by simply keeping the knights in the dining room on the first floor. After instructing the knight to make the arrangements, I took Neurath and Schunzel downstairs.
Hey Neurath, don’t look as if you are trying to say, “I’m released from my writing duties”.
…
“As I recall, you’re the chairman of the Lammerz Chamber of Commerce. I apologize for the commotion I caused the other night.” (Welner)
“Yes, my name is Mario Lammerz. I am truly grateful for your concern for the Viscount’s folly.” (Lammerz)
The Chairman of the Lammerz Chamber of Commerce, who was the father of Bert Lammerz, was the one who wanted to meet with us. Although his expression was deadpan, he must be feeling a little complicated inside about last night’s incident.
On the other hand, for better or for worse, he seemed to be ready to take advantage of the fact that he had made the acquaintance of my family.
In fact, I didn’t think he was incompetent since he was the chairman of a commerce guild in one of the cities. I could guess what he wanted to see me about, though, since it was only yesterday.
“We, the Lammerz Chamber of Commerce, hope to be of service to His Highness the Grand Duke of Coltrezis.” (Lammerz)
“His Highness will be pleased with your judgment and decision. I will let him know.” (Welner)
It may seem like a free service. However, as a practical matter, it was very important to appropriately compensate the locals for their supplies.
On the other hand, if military supplies were insufficient, looting may start, so this matter had to be carefully handled. After all, soon, Coltrezis territory would be under the direct control of the royal family. There was no way the army would be allowed to loot the area.
It was a political imperative for the future to maintain this state of affairs.
“I’m sure His Highness would be pleased if you could deliver foodstuffs, especially vegetables, at a reasonable price.” (Welner)
“I’ll keep that in mind.” (Lammerz)
Lammerz-san bowed. I might be remembered more for persuading merchants to deliver the goods on time and for a reasonable price. Be that as it may.

Thank you for the update!
It wouldn’t be Welner, if story was missing logistics bits.
Lord Rin
It also wouldn’t be Welner if he didn’t get a stomach ache from doing work. Usually work he made for himself.
