It was fastened with a leather lid and could be opened to spray water for bathing.

Han Qingsong ordered this from the iron sheet group under the County’s Supply and Marketing Cooperative. It was not cheap, but he thought it was worth it if Lin Lan liked it.

This way, when the boys in the family bathed in the river, she could wash up with Maisui at home. She no longer had to drive the boys out to bathe in broad daylight as she did before.
