The boys in Lin Lan’s family have all brought along their swimming trunks to school. After school, they would run to the river and change into their swimming trunks behind some hay or grass. Then, they would line up by the edge of the water in the order of oldest to youngest before Sanwang would make a countdown for them to jump together.

At this moment, school was over and it wasn’t exactly time to eat yet, so it was the perfect opportunity to play.

She and Han Qingsong took Xiaowang back to the house first and let the other brothers play for a while.

Sanwang could improve the variety of their meals by catching fish. Although the fish were not big, they were all wild and very delicious. They tasted best when fried with a little bit of oil or made into fish soup.

Maisui helped Lin Lan cook the meal before she went to the patio to finish her homework. It would get dark only by 8pm, so she wouldn’t need to waste any oil to light lamps before then.

Lin Lan said, “My daughter, if it’s hot, don’t stay at home all the time. You can go out and play with the others.”

With Dawang and Erwang leading the brothers, Lin Lan didn’t worry whether they planned to play in the water or do something else.

Maisui said, “Mom, I need to read more. I heard on the radio that there seems to be some kind of trials for the Workers, Farmers and Military Class students. Maybe I might be able to work there when I grow up.”

Lin Lan was very pleased that her daughter was so motivated and no longer the vainly dense person she was in her previous life. She smiled and said, “You are only in 2nd grade, so don’t worry too much about it now. Maybe you can even take the college entrance examination when you grow up.”

Maisui’s eyes lit up, “Mom, is that really okay?”

Lin Lan said, “I think it might work. There’s already trial classes for the Workers, Farmers and Military sections, aren’t there? They can’t exactly stop enrolling university students, can they? Wouldn’t the numerous universities go to waste then? Besides, all walks of life also needed their respective talents, so not targeting students would also make little sense.”
