The Legendary Mechanic in Marvel Universe - Chapter 41
Chapter 41 Meaningless Fight
The battle between Matt and Leo and others had begun in the dimly lit alley with the sound of gunfire from Mingde Street as the background music.
Bucky, as Leo’s favorite fighter, naturally faced Matt. Matt raised the metal pole in his hand and thrust it toward Bucky’s chest. Bucky did not show any weakness as he reached out to grab the metal pole thrust at him without any intention to dodge.
Matt did not expect Bucky would fight like this. As a metal clashing noise rang, his metal pole was tightly grabbed by Bucky.
Matt’s strength was inferior to Bucky’s. Matt forcefully pulled the metal pole and found out the metal pole would not budge. The next instant, his sensitive hearing “saw” Bucky’s rapid punch.
Matt decisively abandoned the metal pole in his hands and jumped back to avoid Bucky’s fist. He revealed an astonished look.
Bucky immediately closed in and launched a consecutive attack on Matt with his hands and legs. Matt knew his strength was far worse than the humanoid monster in front of him. He could only move from side to side and even dodge in midair.
The two were tangled up for a while and unable to determine a victor. It was clear that Bucky had an overwhelming advantage and was suppressing Matt.
Leo felt slightly annoyed when he saw Matt nimbly dodging Bucky’s attack. It was obvious that Matt himself was incapable of solving the problem with Hell’s Kitchen yet he blamed it on Leo.
However, Matt’s intention was good. He wanted to contribute a little to the stability of Hell’s Kitchen to allow ordinary people to live a little more peacefully. Therefore, Leo felt it was pointless for them to fight Matt. The sooner it ended, the better.
With this in mind, Leo kicked the ground and dashed toward the two engaged in battle. He was prepared to end this meaningless fight quickly.
Bucky was a combat master while Matt’s martial arts were all self-trained without any proper system. Thus, he could not win against Bucky. He relied on his extraordinary balance and flexibility to barely stand up against Bucky.
Moreover, Matt could not even escape as his movement speed was slower than Bucky’s.
Leo’s fighting technique was not lacking as he obtained Bucky’s “Advanced Combat Mastery”. When Leo joined and teamed up with Bucky, Matt was significantly outmatched. He could only avoid the danger by rolling on the walls and ground.
Leo seized an opportunity to reach out and grab Matt’s ankle when his body was in the air. Even though Leo’s strength was incomparable to Bucky’s, it was still greater than Matt’s.
Using his hands, Leo swung Matt around before crashing him onto the ground. Before Matt landed, Leo reduced his strength to allow Matt to fall on his back, preventing him from being severely injured.
Nonetheless, Matt was still laying on the ground and unable to get up for a moment.
“I hate people who are as slippery as an eel. Let me take your mask off and see who you really are!”
Bucky and Matt fought for quite some time and Bucky was infuriated because he could not touch Matt at all. Seeing Matt being subdued, he wanted to peel off Matt’s mask.
Matt who was on the floor flustered. He struggled to roll away from Bucky before finally kneeling on the ground with his hands raised putting up a defensive stance. Leo saw this and reached to stop Bucky.
“I’ve heard of this person, he’s not a bad guy. He is known as Daredevil and fights with the Hell’s Kitchen mob every night. Thus, he made countless enemies and many wanted to know his true identity to get rid of him. Speaking of this, both of you have the same life goal. Since he wanted to remain in the shadows, you should not expose him. We’re just here to get identification, don’t cause too many troubles.” Leo said to Bucky.
Bucky took a step back when he heard Leo’s persuasion and said, “I don’t mean anything else. I just feel this Daredevil had quite a temper on me so I wanted to see who he really is. I’m not trying to hurt him.”
Matt who was prepared for a bitter fight saw Bucky did not want to unmask him anymore and heaved out a sigh of relief. He sat on the ground while gasping for air.
“Daredevil, we really did not intend to provoke any conflict. Today’s incident is a misunderstanding. I hope you can take this as a warning to try not to manage everything on your own. Take care of yourself!”
After Leo said that, he led Bucky and Ol’ Tom walked past Matt and gradually disappeared at the end of the alley.
Matt stood up with his hand over his back and limped away from the alley.
It was almost 10 p.m. and there were very few pedestrians around. The road was slightly spacious and lit up by the dim streetlamps.
The three of them were walking on the street while having a chat. Leo asked, “Bucky, how do you feel about what happened tonight? How was it compared to the time we were in Minnesota?”
When Ol’ Tom heard this, he exclaimed in surprise before Bucky could reply. “Minnesota? Are the two of you the knights who robbed the Minnesota mob two days ago?”
Leo glanced at Ol’ Tom and said, “Ol’ Tom, it is easy for an accident to happen if you know too much.”
Ol’ Tom was scared by Leo and shrunk his head. He made a zipping action on his mouth and covered his ears obediently shut up while limping behind Leo and Bucky.
Bucky glared at Ol’ Tom before saying, “This Hell’s Kitchen is much messier than Minnesota and has more mobs. Black Bear Gang and Poison Wolf Gang had fought for so long yet we didn’t hear any police sirens along our way.”
“The cops won’t come here to patrol at night. Even if someone reported, those from NYPD would only come and check the situation after the gunfire ends. In their eyes, Hell’s Kitchen only has a bunch of thugs. New York City will be more stable if they all die while fighting each other.”
“Didn’t we tell you to stop talking?” Bucky lifted Ol’ Tom’s collars and raised his fist viciously threatening him. “Do you really want to die?”
Ol’ Tom shrunk his head again and trembled in fear.
“Bucky, stop scaring him. He’s a local from Hell’s Kitchen, what he said may be the truth of this place. If you want to clear the mobs in New York, you must ask him about the troublesome forces around here.”
Ol’ Tom widened his mouth and even forgot he was in Bucky’s hand when he heard Leo’s words. He cried out in surprise, “You want to clear Hell’s Kitchen and the entire New York mobs?”
Ol’ Tom struggled to yank back his collar from Bucky and agitatedly said, “Stop dreaming! That’s impossible! Throughout New York, even half of America’s mobs were controlled by Kingpin. Kingpin is a devil who kills without batting an eye. Both of you dealing with him was equivalent to sending a slice of juicy meat to a starving wolf. You will be swallowed immediately without any bones left.”
Leo calmed Ol’ Tom before asking, “Ol’ Tom, looks like you are quite knowledgeable! Do you know who Kingpin is? Do you know where he lives?”
“I of course don’t know who Kingpin is! But in the underground world, there are rumors about the Kingpin controlling underground forces.”
Bucky confusingly asked Leo, “Leo, didn’t you say you know who Kingpin is?”
“Of course, I know but I wanted to hear from Ol’ Tom’s mouth to confirm something.”
