The Legendary Mechanic in Marvel Universe - Chapter 94
Chapter 94 Mechanical Tentacles, Mission Rewards
Here was the Marvel Universe, not the Journey to the West. There weren’t any Nine Turns Divine Skill around to be cultivated, it was impossible to have three heads and three pairs of arms?!
However, since it was Leo, he managed to come up with a reliable idea.
Although this idea couldn’t let him have three heads, it could allow him to have more than three pairs of arms.
During the afternoon when Leo was personally experiencing the ‘Neural Arms’, the marvelous sensation he had was similar to possessing a pair of real arms. Even when Leo removed the helmet, surprisingly, he vividly sensed the ‘dismemberment’ of his arms.
Fortunately, Leo had ‘Advanced Mental Resistance’ which enable him to clearly perceive it as an illusion. Thus, the odd yet terrible sensation of ‘dismemberment’ was effectless on Leo.
The idea Leo had was a simple one, which was to build a piece of specialized equipment with countless multifunctional mechanical tentacles to assist him in the progress of manufacturing.
With this thought, Leo suddenly was filled with energy.
Leaping up from the ground, his voice echoed throughout the underground laboratory.
“Steam, new project. Name it Engineer’s Tentacles. Project’s objective, assist the progress of manufacturing.”
“Buzz! Project created.”
“Begin building model. The tentacle used the multifunctional arms from the ‘Multifunctional Self-aware Robot’ but exchange them with the flexible tentacles mode. The controlling method used ‘Intracranial Transmission Module’. The power source used electricity provided by the grid.”
For the Engineer’s Tentacles, Leo was prepared to utilize it in the lab only for assisting in manufacturing. Therefore, using the power from the electrical grid was more than enough. There wasn’t any reason for him to use the Nuclear Microreactor, what a waste of Uranium.
“Buzz! Building model… Successfully built!”
Next, Leo began concentrating on manually optimizing and adjusting the automatically built model.
After being busy for a while, a satisfactory model was finally born.
This Engineer’s Tentacles had a total of 18 pairs of arms of various sizes, giving a vibe of Cthulhu.
Right now, it was four at midnight. Lacking the essential materials, Leo couldn’t manufacture the transmission module right away. So, tonight’s progress only reached this extent.
Moreover, Leo was tired and required proper rest.
El Building had a large area and the entire basement was spacious. Leo’s lab only stood a bit of the area. Thus, Leo set up a personal bedroom for himself. This way, there was a need for Leo to come back and forth between his residence and the lab.
For example, right now, Leo had a simple shower before hopping onto the bed, beginning to recover his Mechanical Force. Only when his Mechanical Force was fully recovered did he have a tight sleep.
Ah, what a fruitful day!
Time swiftly flew by and five days passed in a blink of an eye.
The ringtone woke up Leo who was resting.
Yesterday, Ol’ Tom purchased all the required materials except the Uranium. So, for making the signal transmission module, Leo had toiled overnight until the following morning.
Currently, it was eight in the morning and he only had less than three hours of sleep. Opening his eyes, Leo rubbed them.
Without getting up, he directly asked the air, “Steam, who is it from?”
“Buzz! It’s from Mr. Peter Parker.”
“Answer it for me.”
In the spacious bedroom, Peter’s voice suddenly echoed. “Hi, Mr. Erwin, it’s Peter. Where are you right now? Dr. Octavius have me bring something for you.”
“What is it?”
“I’ve no idea. Doc didn’t mention anything and I also didn’t ask. However, it was a security briefcase and it’s weirdly heavy.”
Leo revealed an overjoy expression since he believed the Uranium had arrived. During the day Otto brought the Nuclear Microreactor’s blueprint over, Leo requested Otto to purchase Uranium.
Otto accepted it with questions being asked, visibly it wasn’t a hassle for him.
Four days went by and Uranium had been purchased.
Looks like Otto has a decent connection! Leo believed there was a need for Ol’ Tom to have a chat with Otto, sharing Otto’s connection.
However, this was a matter for a later time. Right now, Leo had a Uranium waiting for him to receive.
“Peter, wait for me at the reception. I’ll be there in five minutes.”
Without wasting any seconds, Leo hurriedly washed up and wore his clothes before rushing to the reception.
Five exact minutes later, Leo arrived at the lobby and from afar, he saw Peter who was standing in front of the reception with a metal case in his hand.
Striding a couple of steps, Leo reached out for the heavy security case and said, “Thank you very much, Peter. I’ve troubled you so much for delivering this thing this early in the morning.”
“You’re welcome, it’s something I ought to do. It just so happens I’m on my way to work too.”
“Then you’re also our company’s uncompromisingly good employee. Punctually arriving at eight-thirty in the morning, not many of them can do it.” Leo laughed as he complimented Peter.
Peter modestly replied, “It’s not much for me arriving at this time unlike Mr. Erwin as the chairman. These past few days you arrived much earlier than me. Among everyone in the company, this is as rare as a four-clover leaf. I still have many things to learn from you, sir.”
It was a boot-licking from Peter, it was sincere respect he had for Leo, wishing to learn more about Leo’s good traits.
But what Peter was unaware of was that these past few days Leo was sleeping at the lab below. Basically, he never left the building before and that was why he was earlier than anyone else.
And there was no way for Leo to mention this, so he just let this misunderstanding flow on its own. To make Peter revere him more, Leo felt there was nothing wrong with this.
“Peter, since you’ve arrived, although it’s not working time yet, it doesn’t prevent us to chat a bit about work.” Remaining the image of a responsible leader as much as possible, Leo said, “These past few days I’ve been busy, so I’ve had no time to ask about the Mechanical Prostheses Department. How’s the establishment of the department going on right now?”
When mentioned his new job, Peter was filled with ecstatic and answered in overjoy, “The depart had purchased relevant equipment yesterday, and the staff was readied too. So it’s virtually been established. It was due to Ol’ Tom and Miss Heather’s full support for it to be completed this fast. When I was in the university, I always heard there is a lot of rivalry going on in the company, and pushing responsibilities around is a common thing. However, El Tech Company is different from what I’ve heard, I’m very happy to work here.”
Peter continued in a confident manner, “With such a close-tied company as a backing and the series of technology provided by Mr. Erwin, I’m convinced I’ll be able to develop the mechanical prosthesis I’m satisfied with.”
As soon as Peter said those words, a densely packed system of notifications appeared in front of Leo.
【 “Spider-man’s Pleading” had completed. Mission evaluation: Excellent 】
【 Generating Mission Rewards… 】
【 Reward randomized complete. Please choose one of the three options as a reward. 】
【 1. Spider Climbing (Active skill): Peter’s arms and legs possess an exceptional adhesive trait. Able to freely stick and climb on walls and ceilings. Note: When activating the skill, the consumption of stamina increases.】
【 2. Advanced Mutation Resistance (Talent): When bitten by the mutated spider, the mutated Peter developed a strong resistance against sudden mutations.】
【 3. Spider Senses (Passive skill): Strengthen senses to a certain degree. Especially when danger arrives, the senses will strengthen in an extreme for an instant.】
According to the mission’s task, Leo thought he needed to wait for Peter completed a mechanical prosthesis Peter was happy with before being able to complete the mission.
Unbeknownst to him, the mission was deemed completed as long as Peter was confident in succeeding.
To complete this mission, there was no fight involved, instead, Leo felt it was more of a sense of being a whale.
Leo practically only continuously supplied technologies and research funds to the point Peter’s expectation was reached, completing this mission.
It was fortunate that Leo wasn’t lacking in either technology or money, so the mission’s evaluation was excellent. But among the mission rewards, there wasn’t a character card again!
This disappointed Leo slightly. However, the randomly generated rewards were certainly good and Leo was quite happy with them.
Presently, Peter was next to him, so he had no time to ponder his choices. To choose a suitable choice for him, Leo simply closed the system panel, focusing on chatting with Peter. He decided to slowly ponder over it after finishing chatting.
