“I was raised by the Xu family and the grace of my upbringing cannot be forgotten. Just like my sister here, who chose to stay in the Mu family despite knowing her real identity as she turned a blind eye to her real family, my name doesn’t need to be changed.”
This answer made Father Mu freeze and he was rendered speechless.
Mother Mu also took a quick glance at Xu Xinduo. Her expression soured but she made no comment.
Xu Xinduo was actually their own biological daughter. However, considering that Mu Qingyao lived with them for 16 years, they decided to only claim that Xu Xinduo bore similar appearances with them. Paired with the fact that the girl had a poor life experience, they “accepted” her as their adopted daughter but kept her original identity a secret.
They were the ones who were in the wrong.
Their relationship was bounded by blood but in the end, she remained a stranger to them.
Watching Mu Qingyao cry so intensely, paired in consideration of their 16 years of the parent-daughter relationship, they made this cruel decision.
In their opinion, they just have to properly compensate Xu Xinduo later on.
By doing so, Xu Xinduo didn’t protest or even express any other emotions, which made them feel relieved.
But now, Xu Xinduo resolutely refused to change her surname, causing them to become flustered. However, they couldn’t say anything in response at all. As long as they started to bring it up, Xu Xinduo could raise the issue of her hidden identity.
It would be fine to change her name if she wouldn’t be regarded as an adopted daughter.
Mu Qingyao’s facial expressions became even more livid.
That sarcastic comment was to indirectly criticize me!
What a joke— how could I be a child of that lower-class family? I am the daughter of the Mu family!
I will never admit it!
After eating, Xu Xinduo and Mu Qingyao went upstairs together. She quickly caught up with Xu Xinduo who was walking in front of her. Then, she gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, “My brother is away on a student exchange program so he won’t be back for a bit. I will give you a tour of the school after your transfer.”
“Good,” Xu Xinduo responded coldly and turned around to head to her room.
Mu Qingyao looked at the door of the room and sneered.

On the first day of school, Xu Xinduo received her new mobile phone from Father Mu.
She put the mobile phone box into her school bag and got into the Mu family’s car.
When she got into the car, Mu Qingyao was shooting daggers with her gaze as she glared at Xu Xinduo who was in her school uniform.
Xu Xinduo was born beautiful and she carried herself with an aura of an immortal fairy. She wouldn’t hold many conversations either and there was just something about her that made her appear to be out of everyone else’s league.
However, Mu Qingyao did not like her.
Their brother, Mu Qing, was the most handsome boy in the school.
Xu Xinduo and Mu Qing were about 80% similar. Her gentle beauty was more than what a girl would typically have and her height was adequately tall as well. Wearing a blazer and a pleated school uniform, the height of her legs almost seemed to start where her belly button should be, which made her proportions seem a bit over the top with her height.
With Mu Qingyao’s height of 157 centimeters, their frames and features were completely different.
In the past, she thought that she was just born as a fraternal twin with her brother. However, she was now aware that she had no relations with her brother entirely.
“Are there any English classes in the high school of your town?” Mu Qingyao suddenly asked this question that sounded slightly menacing— even the driver sitting in front of the car felt that it was a bit harsh.
He could guess that the Young Miss of the Mu family did not like this adopted daughter.
“Mmhm,” Xu Xinduo replied casually, still holding a book in her hand and reading it in detail.
Mu Qingyao looked at it but she was surprised to find that it was actually an English novel! She immediately pursed her lips, wondering if the girl could even understand it.
Even most of the students in the International Class didn’t go that far to pretend to read English novels.
