Chapter 79 – Calamity 1
“Haru?.”
Yuzurika’s voice carried from the entrance of the classroom to Haruka’s seat by the window.
It was lunchtime, and the class population shrunk in half. Even so, nearly twenty students were all glued to the sudden visitor.
A deep green jacket. A white cream-colored top with a red ribbon. A white pleated skirt with two blue lines at the hem. It was unmistakably one of A-10 Academy’s special uniforms.
Since only five students per grade can wear a special uniform from the second grade onward, it was an eye-catching sight.
Haruka stood up and waved his hand when he heared Yuzurika’s voice.
Yunika, who was sitting in front of Haruka, glanced at Yuzurika and Haruka alternately.
Yuzurika came for Haruka, followed by Sumireko.
Sumireko, who came in later, had a neat face and wore a special uniform under her lab coat, which made the class even more eerily quiet.
Not even a whisper was made, Haruka’s classmates just stared at the two of them dumbfounded.
The two of them walked as if they were proudly tearing apart the awkward space, and stopped right in front of Haruka.
“Hey, Haru…”
“Sorry to barge in on you…”
“It’s been a while since Nee-san came to school, hasn’t it?”
“If I don’t come here once in a while, I’ll probably forget that I’m still a student.”
Yuzurika looked around at the students in the classroom who are staring at her.
“Come on, let’s go out to eat.”
Yuzurika took Haruka’s hand and pulled him along.
“I’m going, please don’t pull me.”
Stumbling a little, Haruka followed her.
Yuzurika pulled Haruka’s arm and pushed him against Sumireko, and then she went to Ria who was sitting by the wall and watching the whole scene.
“You want to come too, Ria-chan?”
“Yes, I’m going.”
Ria smiled and stood up with her lunch box in her hand.
“Reika-chan, it’s been a while. Let’s have lunch together, shall we?”
Yuzurika also asked Reika who was who was preparing to eat her lunch at the seat next to Riai’s.
“Ah… Yes… I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
Reika, who didn’t expect to be invited, nods her head in agitation.
“Okay, let’s go then.”
Reika thought as Yuzurika lightly pushed her back.
Like Haruka, Yuzurika’s sense of distance is extra ordinary.
Haruka’s older sister whom Reika had only spoken to once. An unfamilliar woman in white. A man’s daughter who was a rank E citizen. And lastly the boy that she was a little bit interested in, Haruka.
“How about you, Miyako-chan?”
“I have a prior engagement.”
Miyako brushed off Yuzurika’s invitation.
Unexpectedly, Reika had to eat lunch with a group of people that she doesn’t know very well.
After the eccentric Yuzurika and the others left, the classroom was naturally noisy discussing about the two girls.
?
Yunika left the noisy classroom and went to an empty classroom with Shinku and Miyako.
In the deserted school building, where the hustle and bustle of the lunch hour didn’t reach, they found a desk and a chair and sat down there.
Yunika placed her lunch box that was automatically prepared for her first thing in the morning, and Miyako puts down her lunch box that Haruka has prepared for her on the desk.
“””Thank you for the food.”””
The three expressed their gratitude and silently ate with their chopsticks.
There was no awkwardness in the air, and when they had finished about half of their lunches, Miyako started talking.
“So, what did you want to talk about?”
“Talk?”
Miyako asked Yunika. As if caught by the question, Shinku glanced at Yunika, but Yunika remained silent with a serious expression on her face.
Yunika didn’t respond, so Miyako continued eating instead.
Yunika chewed and swallowed her food, and then she stopped moving. As she ate, Shinku looked worriedly at Yunika who seemed to be acting strangely.
After a while, Yunika opened her mouth, looking down at her lunch box.
“You know…”
“Yes?”
“Is it true that Har- err Obi was Miyako’s stalker? Rui told me about it…”
“Ah… now that you mentioned it, Akito also said something like that.” (Shinku)
Miyako was irritated inside.
She knew that Shun and the others were making bad moves via Hibiki. Though Hibiki herself was one of the main culprits.
Their classmates have already started to know about Haruka’s past in an exaggerated way.
It was the most unpleasant thing for Miyako to hear someone she loved being spoken ill of.
In addition, it was no exaggeration to say that this malice was caused entirely by Miyako.
She couldn’t forgive the fact that the spark that she had caused was about to harm Haruka again.
“Haru-kun wasn’t stalking me.”
“Of course that’s the case!”
Yunika’s expression brightened at Miyako’s answer.
“Haru-kun is the kind of person who just wants to have fun.”
“Yes, I know… He asked me out a lot during summer break.” (Yunika)
“He often asked me out too… He’s too much of a free spirit.” (Shinku)
A blue streak appeared on Miyako’s forehead.
Miyako’s eyes were not smiling slightly.
“Haru-kun used to ask me out a lot after school and on weekends, but I was so busy in extracurricular activities at the time that I often turned him down, so I guess that’s how the rumors started.”
“Ah, so that’s what happened.”
Yunika and Shinku looked convinced.
They don’t seem to doubt Miyako’s words at all, which made Miyako felt relieved inside.
But still they don’t know the truth.
It was true that Haruka often asked Miyako out after school and on weekends, and it was also true that Miyako was busy and often turned him down.
The problem was Miyako’s attitude.
Whenever the other students asked her about Haruka, Miyako smiled annoyedly and vaguely mumbled her words.
When she was asked if she was being followed, Miyako would defend Haruka and give a wry smile.
By doing so, she gave the impression to the other students that she was only being kind to Haruka, and that she was actually annoyed by him always following her.
Whenever there was a discussion about dealing with Haruka that was causing trouble to Miyako, she would stop them with a fleeting smile on her face, saying, “I’m fine, don’t do that.”
By doing so, the boys became righteously indignant that they had to do something for Miyako, who was always so kind and could not clearly reject Haruka.
The anger of the boys spread to the girls, who also began to express their malice toward Haruka.
The cause of saving Miyako created more and more malice to be directed at Haruka.
As the heartbreak gradually began to take its toll on Haruka, Miyako would heal him by teaching him how to study inside the virtual world.
Miyako smiled kindly at Haruka and tried to help his wounded heart, while at school she works to push him into a corner.
The more isolated Haruka became, the more he depended on Miyako. And every time Miyako choosed Shun, Haruka showed his despair.
It was unbearably pleasant.
To satisfy her darkest desires, Miyako ended up tormenting Haruka repeatedly.
Miyako suddenly felt suffocated and puts down the chopsticks and grasped her chest.
Yunika, whose head was in a flower garden, didn’t notice the change in Miyako.
As Miyako had planned, Haruka was disliked and isolated.
Haruka had gained a certain reputation that was opposite to Shun, even the girls who were initally interested in Haruka ended up avoiding him.
The malice that Miyako had created was amplified once again and was about to attack Haruka.
It was something that Miyako wanted to stop at all costs.
