- Chapter 127 - The Processed Little Girl
The elevator ascended to the second floor.
The dim floor was filled with blood-stained iron cages, housing huge monsters barely recognizable as human.
Their bodies were covered with bizarre tumors, so swollen that they filled the cages, the bars pressing into their greasy, bloated flesh.
The elevator ascended to the third floor.
Still countless iron cages, but the occupants had changed.
Men and women with human bodies but animal heads, naked, with well-proportioned figures. However, their heads seemed to be freshly sewn with animal skin, with bright red blood oozing along the seams, the wounds hideously red.
The elevator ascended to the fourth floor.
In the iron cage, all the women are pregnant. They look numb, with vacant eyes, and are naked, trapped inside. Despite the bone-chilling cold, they are numb and unresponsive, like soulless dolls.
As the elevator ascends to the fifth floor, Zhan Qinghe pulls the handbrake.
The iron gate, made of railings, slowly opens…
A foul smell, indescribable and similar to an uncleaned pigsty of ten days or half a month, assaults the nostrils.
Qing Li looks towards the iron cage closest to her, her eyes trembling.
Inside the over three-meter-tall cage is a dirty girl.
She is called a girl because she looks young and naive, around eleven or twelve years old.
However, her body is like a mountain of flesh and limbs, with incomplete human faces growing below her neck. The faces have lifeless expressions, and her white flesh is covered with twisted arms and deformed legs.
When the girl notices Qing Li looking at her, a flicker of sympathy passes through her vacant eyes, but it soon returns to stillness.
Another defective product delivered for processing.
They will soon be the same.
The little boy in Qing Li’s arms trembles, crying uncontrollably from shock and horror.
Is this the true face of paradise?
By comparison, even a slaughterhouse seems warm.
Qing Li rubs the little boy Qi Yuan’s head, usually comforting children, and says, “What’s the use of crying? Tears aren’t weapons. The butchers and executioners won’t be gentler when they see your tears; in fact, they might get more excited by your loud cries.”
Qi Yuan blinks, trying to hold back his tears.
“Sister, you’re right. I shouldn’t waste my tears on fear and weakness. I will become stronger, and when I stand over the bodies of my enemies, I will shed tears of victory,” he says, clenching his remaining fist.
Qing Li, not very educated, is surprised: (?o?)
The child’s understanding is perfect!
At that moment…
Painful moans come from the cage ahead.
Qing Li smells fresh blood, the same scent…
…as the limbs and body parts pushed out by the man in the goat mask.
Though she has guessed what she experienced, Qing Li simply says, “Push it over.”
Zhan Qinghe’s mouth twitches, and he mutters, “Ancestor, there are no enemies now. Could you please get down and walk a bit to get your blood flowing? Sitting still for too long affects circulation.”
He has been pushing the two and is now suffering from a sore wrist.
Qing Li says, “I don’t want to move, the ground is dirty.”
The ground is covered in filthy, stinking blood, which might dirty her little cotton shoes.
Zhan Qinghe is speechlessly frustrated…
This girl’s obsession with cleanliness is unpredictable and has always been hard to please since she was young.
A man, oppressed and enslaved, pushed a small cart with a look of despair. The smell of blood grew stronger, and the groans louder, as he finally stopped in front of an iron cage.
Inside the cage, Qing Li saw a person, and for the first time, her clear and bright eyes clouded over with shadows.
Qi Yuan struggled out of Qing Li’s arms, trembling as he gripped the iron bars in disbelief, muttering “Xue Xue… Xue Xue?”
The girl in the cage appeared very young, about ten years old, transformed grotesquely into a massive mound of flesh. Her arms and legs resembled dry, withered trees on a mountain.
A lumberjack raised his axe, chopping off the tree-like limbs from her body, leaving nothing but bloodied stumps.
Hearing Qi Yuan’s voice, the girl’s eyelids fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes, calling out “Qi Yuan…” Her voice, though hoarse, was filled with joy. Despite her dirty face, she appeared quite cute.
“Xue Xue, why did you become like this… why…” Qi Yuan couldn’t believe that his childhood friend had turned into this.
Even though he knew that the ‘sanatorium’ for sick children was actually a slaughterhouse, he couldn’t bear the sight of Xue Xue’s condition, which was worse than death.
Xue Xue tried to move, but she had no arms or legs to drag her heavy, bloated body. She looked at Qi Yuan’s broken arm with a pained expression, asking if he was hurt.
Tears streamed down Qi Yuan’s face. He was merely missing an arm, but Xue Xue was riddled with wounds. ‘Idiot, why do you still care about others when you’re the one suffering the most?’ he thought.
Xue Xue smiled gently, “It’s okay, my arms and legs will grow back soon. But now I can’t hold hands with Qi Yuan.”
She glanced at Zhan Qinghe, wearing a boar’s head mask, and then at Qing Li in the cart, guessing something.
“Listen, Qi Yuan, the paradise is a lie. This is a massive human breeding farm. We are food. Tens of thousands like us are imprisoned here, living in even more dire conditions. You must get out and tell everyone the truth,” she urged, despite being in a cage.
Hatred flared in Qi Yuan’s eyes, his tears bitter. “We already know. I broke my arm on purpose to escape.”
Hearing his response, Xue Xue smiled, “Everyone is so smart.”
“I’ll take you away,” Qi Yuan said.
Xue Xue shook her head. “Qi Yuan, you have legs and can escape, but I don’t. I can’t run. If I go with you, I’ll only be a burden.”
Qi Yuan fell silent, knowing she was right. Even with the help of two adults, it was impossible to safely take Xue Xue, who weighed five or six hundred pounds, with them.
“Xue Xue, wait for me, I will definitely find a way to save you,” he said with a determined look in his eyes.
Xue Xue nodded and said happily, “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
It was a promise made between two children.
But it was destined to be unfulfilled.
