The Villainess That Was Once A VRMMO player - Chapter 94.2
The Demon Lord’s army went on a Blitzkrieg, but even so, the great nation of Rebel should have been able to hold out for a few weeks even if there were several dragons in their midst.
The spire part of the castle was destroyed, they said, but they did not see that attack twice, and according to the insights of the Royal Magicians and the Magicians’ Guild, they guessed that they used magical tools that could only be used once a day or every few days.
In the view of the Corsral Kingdom’s upper echelon, the Rebel royalty who had taken refuge here were exaggerating as an “excuse” for abandoning their country after only half a day.
“Still, they call themselves [Demon Lord]. They are probably powerful, so we can’t let our guard down, but even now, “reinforcements” are gathering one after another from the allied countries. And then there’s me, the country’s greatest shield, and Shota-dono, the strongest sword. You won’t know a battle until you fight it, so don’t look so pessimistic!”
With that, with a bang, Carlide slapped Shota on the back, and Shota gave a twitchy smile even as he stomped his foot-jumps with the force of the slap.
(…I’ve fought him a few times in a previous life…)
Still, as expected, there would be no opponent with that VRMMO-like game balance collapse… Shota slapped his own cheek to shake off his weakness.
“Hey, you’re late!”
“Oh, sorry. Miss Delia.”
A woman with beautiful scarlet hair immediately called out to Shota and the others as they enter the conference hall, and Carlide, perhaps a familiar face, responded in an easygoing manner.
“Excuse me, Miss Delia…”
“Oh, I see you’ve arrived too Shota, that’s okay, you were outside the castle. Unlike that guy over there.”
The woman in her mid-twenties was the vice-captain of the royal court magician corps and a [Hero Class] magician who had received the blessing of a flame spirit with the nickname of [Blazing Farm].
Delia was involved with Carlide in some way because they were a magician and a knight in the same Hero Class, but those around them who knew them all looked at the two as if they were smiling at something.
“…By the way, you guys, that guy over there seems to be ‘that thing’.”
“Oh, that thing…”
Carlide frowned at Delia, who suddenly lowered her voice, and looked at her for a moment, and Shota, not understanding what he meant, asked, “What’s that?”.
“You know, the exiled Marquis Cadeau.”
The Prime Minister of the Caenista Kingdom, who defected from the continent across the sea a few months ago.
After his country was ravaged by a vile demon tribe, the king and his son, risking the country’s revival, let the Marquis de Cadeau flee to this Isbell Continent.
When the Marquis Cadeau heard of the Demon Lord’s appearance, he said, “The Demon Lord is after me,” and was the first to flee.
In other words, the Demon Lord’s attack might have been caused by the Marquis Cadeau’s defection to Isbell.
In such a situation, the Marquis Cadeau fled to the Kingdom of Corsral with the royal family of Rebel.
“Worst case scenario, if we give them that thing, I wonder if they’ll leave…”
“As I said, I’m not interested in selling asylum seekers to the invaders… even if it’s for the best.”
“I know, right?”
The three heroes are whispering and discussing such things in a corner of the conference hall.
In addition to the three heroes, other [Hero Class] members from other countries could be seen at the conference hall, greeting the Corsral nobles.
