[Vol. 5] Chapter 136: The Divine Dependents
Stepping out of the cave and into the outside world, Xiao Guang, in her true form, was still engaged in a thunderous battle with an entity that resembled the Demon Lord of Slaughter, fighting from afar.
The ground shook and resonated with loud roars and thunderclaps, as the clash of golden breath and blood-red lightning erupted, creating a terrifying energy storm that surged like crashing waves, nearly obliterating the snow and wind atop the St. Bergen Mountains.
Violet did not intend to interfere with that.
The dragon girl had captured most of the enemy’s attention and power, giving her the opportunity to address the forbidden spell’s aggregate hidden within the St. Bergen Mountains.
Such a super-spec existence as the Demon Lord of Slaughter could not possibly break through the barriers of the world with its true body. Ultimately, it was likely just manipulating the power contained within this forbidden spell to battle with the dragon.
Once the ?Blood of the Inverted Cross? was dealt with, the enemies on the little dragon’s side would naturally lose their threat. Until then, she could have some fun.
After communicating some information with the little dragon through their contract, the black-haired girl spread her white wings and soared once more.
Violet had already located the target’s position and general situation through SP scanning. It was not far from this peak.
The enhancement provided by the ?Divine Wings? granted the priestess extraordinary speed. In just a few seconds, she descended from the sky to a mountain halfway up where another blood pillar rose high, slowly retracting her wings and surveying her surroundings.
“This should… be the place?”
She quickly fixed her gaze ahead, a sly smile appearing on her face.
“Wow, such a warm welcome! I’m starting to feel a bit embarrassed.”
The divine sense scan was not a skill with sufficient concealment. While it was quick and convenient, it completely exposed Violet’s presence. Thus, it was entirely expected that the enemy had prepared for her arrival.
However, the sheer number of enemies and their overwhelming strength made the priestess gasp in surprise.
In the forested mountains, some bizarre and strange figure flitted between the trees and shrubs, nearly blocking her path. Though they did not form any specific formation, the fierce aura radiating from them was enough to intimidate an ordinary person.
This was an army assembled by demons.
Dozens of towering demons wielding terrifying weapons stood shoulder to shoulder in front of her, their massive hammers almost requiring Violet to look up to see them fully. Above them, several winged entities with bat-like wings floated, their predatory eyes watching closely.
These were the ?Demon Eyes?, capable of mental attacks and magic drain.
Looking around, the forest was almost filled with demon beast figures of all sizes. More and more enemies emerged, encircling her with their increasing presence.
Even the shadows of the lush ancient trees flickered with strange cold lights, indicating that assassins were lurking within, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Of course, this was just what could be seen with the naked eye.
After summoning the light elemental spirit that had been temporarily dismissed due to her high-speed flight, Violet let it float beside her and stepped forward.
One step, two steps, three steps.
“Swish!”
The sound of a blade slicing through the air reached her ears.
The girl remained unfazed. Before the attack could land, a thin but incredibly resilient barrier formed around her, blocking the pale, bone-like scythe with a crisp “clang.”
Almost immediately, another golden light shot out, severing the small demon that had briefly emerged from the shadows, causing it to fall to the ground.
But like the sound of a battle horn, the defeated demon’s body hadn’t even hit the ground before seven or eight figures burst forth from all directions around the girl, launching blades that glowed with an eerie green light!
The girl still didn’t move. However, the light elemental spirit, seemingly enraged, contracted slightly before erupting in a blinding light, annihilating all incoming attacks.
It then released a flurry of piercing rays, akin to a golden hedgehog spreading its spikes, penetrating every enemy within a ten feet radius!
“Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud!!!!!!”
The sounds of piercing and falling echoed, as at least a hundred oddly shaped demons were turned into sieves by that single strike, most of them not even having the chance to reveal themselves or launch an attack.
The power of a seventh-tier light element summon was not something these mid to low-tier demons, generally ranked between two to four, could contend with. These demons couldn’t even withstand a single hit from that little light sphere.
Though they were mid-tier demons, their performance showed no essential difference from the lower-tier demon beasts.
Thus, Violet had no intention of wasting time on them.
As for how to deal with the more numerous demons that continued to surge forward, undeterred by their fallen comrades…
“Summon: Guardian of the Celestial Realm, Lucas.”
As she walked forward, a dazzling light emerged from the girl’s palm. In response, a radiant beam with a diameter of several meters rose from the ground at her feet.
When it dissipated, a golden-armored warrior, with steel wings and a full-face helmet, appeared, kneeling on one knee.
“Master, the Celestial Guardian Lucas is ready for your orders.”
“Clear the path for me.”
“Yes!”
With a deep, resonant shout, the golden-armored warrior rose without hesitation, raising his magnificent two-handed sword inscribed with sacred runes. He stepped forward and swung his sword in a sweeping motion!
Several demon beasts that had lunged at her were instantly cleaved in half, and then a surge of golden light erupted from his body, exploding outward!
The golden flames burst forth like a bomb, instantly engulfing dozens of nearby demon companions. The violent shockwave sent those mangled figures flying in all directions, and then…
“Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!!!!!”
An unparalleled series of explosions spread rapidly!
Lucas had the ability to infuse the divine power of his sword into the enemies he killed, turning them into living bombs consumed by holy flames. Enemies killed by this ability would also explode, triggering new chain reactions.
This could effectively target certain undead or resurrection-capable foes, and in a densely packed space filled with lesser enemies, it provided a convenient way to clear the area, perfectly suited for the current situation.
In a shocking display, countless demon beasts surged from the forest, surrounding them from all sides. Within just a few breaths, they were ignited like a fuse, erupting into bursts of golden flames.
Trees toppled, air currents surged, and even Violet couldn’t believe the effectiveness of Lucas’s strike, which had instantly cleared away more than half of the weaker demons present. Those who managed to survive the explosion seemed to bear some injuries as well.
Not only that, many of the more distant demons, hidden in the treetops or concealed by invisibility, like assassins, were also thrown into the air by the massive destruction of the area and the inevitable AoE effects, many of them bursting into similar golden flames.
The defense the demons had meticulously prepared was almost completely shattered in an instant.
This was the true pressure and dominance of a true powerhouse on the battlefield.
Even these demonic forces, whose strength is nearly equivalent to a ten-thousand-strong Knight Templar legion, can only meet their end in merciless slaughter when facing a demigod-level being.
“Wow…”
The priestess momentarily stopped, surveying the chaotic scene around her, ultimately shaking her head in resignation.
“…Alright, Lucas, well done.”
The golden-armored warrior slightly bowed his head, maintaining a respectful yet confident demeanor.
“Thank you for your praise, my lord. It was merely a matter of clearing out some lowly foes, they are not worthy to stand before you.”
“Clang!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lucas swiftly raised his sword again to block a massive hammer that had been thrown through the air, nearly three meters tall. With another swing, his giant sword sent it flying away, crashing to the ground with a thundering noise.
“My lord, just keep moving forward. Leave the enemies… to me!”
