A Girl Who Was Told "You Have No Talent" Turned Out To Be A Talented Monster - Chapter 76.3
Baider’s original plan was to create a subjugation force to catch Dande red-handed who was actually coerced by him to do so in the first place. Then, he would have created fake witnesses and victims to get more Adventurers involved. Thus, blaming the adventure guild.
With that, he would have gained recognition and also reduced the adventure guild’s influence, but his plans changed because of Litty’s sudden appearance. Now he planned to drag down Litty also, then involve others. The rest of the plan would remain the same.
The people who were invited stood in the courtroom with their heads down. The witnesses and victims were an assortment of men and women of all ages, which Baider considered his trump cards.
Some of them were actual victims, while the others had nothing to do with any of the crimes. Every one of them had been instructed to make particular statements like involvement of adventures, including Litty. To make everything more believable, everything had been scripted properly.
Baider coerced them into joining, and even took advantage of their weakness to make sure that his plan would work. Dande also participated because of fearing that Baider would reveal that his father was a criminal and expose him.
Baider also threatened Dande not to mention a word to anyone, or else he would reveal his father’s secrets to everyone. Baider then asked the other criminal he supposedly caught.
“Confess to everyone what you did.” (Baider)
“I, I… I… I was the… one who broke… the flower bed…” (Criminal 01)
“Explain it properly.” (Baider)
“Ah… uhm… I…” (criminal 01)
Baider, who had held this man’s weakness, tapped the table with his finger. Despite silent pressure, the man’s testimony didn’t go as expected because of him fumbling his words.
Then Litty interjected for the first time other than when she was questioned.
“Was that the flower bed that man wanted his wife to see? It was probably shocking for him to see you destroy it.” (Litty)
“What?” (Criminal 01)
Litty pointed at one of the witnesses Baider brought.
The judge and others couldn’t help but be surprised by her sudden interruption. The groans in the audience grew stronger as they watched everything unfold.
Baider was the most upset of all, as he wondered when and where Litty had gotten this information.
“Ki-kun… was that for me…” (Witness Wife)
“When I received the request that time, he told me that he did something bad to his wife, and he wanted to show his wife the garden to ask for forgiveness in some way…” (Litty)
“Did I tell you all of that when I asked you to do the chore of making the flower beds…?” (Flowerbed Owner)
“Yes, it was when you planted mainly Rinnations and Kamrahi flowers and were just about to start planting…” (Litty)
“Alright, that’s enough!” (Baider)
Baider stood up and tried to stop the exchange between the two. Not expecting to fall behind Litty in the information game, Baider went to make his next move.
“The defendant knows too much information about the victim! Maybe she did her research beforehand to find the best victim!” (Baider)
“Knight Baider, please maintain proper etiquette.”
“Ugh…!”
Once Baider took a deep breath, he started to speak like a knight.
“Now, defendant Litty, were you present at the scene of the crime when it happened?” (Baider)
“Yes.” (Litty)
“Were you there as an accomplice with the defendant, Dande?” (Baider)
“No.” (Litty)
“I saw you restraining Dande, too, you know. All this…” (Baider)
“I only thought he was the criminal because Dande was in front of the house with his weapon drawn.” (Litty)
“Wait, you were involved with Dande, weren’t you?” (Baider)
“No, I am not.” (Litty)
“Baider, your questions are leading the defendant!” (Catalana)
With a single statement from Catalana, who was defending Litty, the presiding judge stopped Baider. In the event of an adventurer’s misconduct, a person from headquarters like her would be in charge of the defense.
It could be said that people like her protected adventurers’ rights.
“…So, Catalana, are you a defense counsel?” (Baider)
“Yes.” (Catalana)
Baider clicked his tongue.
He was supposed to have Aldis and the people he had framed as witnesses speak up about these things.
He knew that Litty would never budge. In other words, there was absolutely no progress in the exchange between Baider and Litty.
“Hmmm… May I…” (Catalana)
“What’s up, counsel Catalana?”
“I think I’ll take a cue from Baider there and ask my side for testimony.” (Catalana)
“Hahahaha! Is it my imagination that I don’t see any witnesses anywhere?”
Baider triumphantly boasted. In fact, not even Roma, who could be Litty’s best ally, was present.
Baider was hoping for the best.
“Excuse us!”
As if to shatter that expectation, the door to the courtroom was opened violently. As everyone looked at the door, a woman entered.
“What the heck? Ilysis!”
“I’m sorry for my rude appearance, but please understand.” (Ilysis)
Ilysis’s voice was strong, even though she was in the presence of the King. The King, who had faith in her, was somewhat taken aback, whereas Redner frowned.
“There is no point to this trial because it is Baider and Yggdrasia who should really be judged.”
Immediately after she spoke, a large crowd appeared in the courtroom. Roma was among them.
