[Vol. 4] Chapter 50: Catching a Good Fish with a Touch

After being comforted by Amelia, Ifia quickly regained her composure. However, through the incident of being deceived by Qulina to ghostwrite, Ifia gained a clear understanding.

Despite her confidence in her abilities, the reality was that her talents were more suited for a specific field. Her creative writing skills weren’t suitable for this job but would be better applied in other specialized areas.

So, when she returned to the office, Ifia accepted this reality. As Amelia’s assistant, unable to handle documents, she was left with the task of organizing folders – a simple and easy task.

However, since Amelia’s desk was far from others, they thought Ifia was assisting with document processing. This made Cetaphil silently bite her handkerchief, feeling envious.

Miss Barlen was probably concerned about interns being bullied, so she arranged for Ifia to be close by.

Oh, Miss Barlen must be an angel, so kind!

Those who spread rumors about Miss Barlen being cold-hearted must be lying!

With this thought in mind, Cetaphil deliberately followed behind the intern Fia when they went to the cafeteria together for lunch.

To assure Miss Barlen, she vowed to take good care of the intern! The first step was to make the intern feel the warmth of her office colleagues and escape the feeling of being alone.

“Fia, hello, I’m Cetaphil Wooda, we’re colleagues in the same department!”

Upon suddenly hearing Cetaphil’s self-introduction, Ifia was surprised, but she quickly sensed the goodwill from the other person, bringing a smile to her face.

“Hello, Cetaphil, nice to meet you!”

“Although it might be a bit presumptuous, Fia, can I have lunch with you?”

Of course, Ifia wouldn’t refuse Cetaphil’s kind invitation. After ordering a popular set meal, they found a table and sat down. Sitting face to face, Cetaphil realized how cute and adorable the new intern was!

Unlike Miss Barlen’s cold and glamorous appearance, Fia seemed harmless, like a soft little animal. Those watery black eyes, like obsidian, were sparkling at the moment, evoking a strong protective instinct in Cetaphil.

Ah, how could Qulina bully such an adorable girl? She’s so mean!

Cetaphil always liked attractive people, and seeing the intern with such high looks made her unable to restrain her kindness. With humorous and interesting words, Cetaphil gradually made Ifia relax.

Originally, due to encountering many bad people recently, Ifia had become instinctively cautious, reluctant to easily trust others. However, after careful observation this time, she felt that Cetaphil was a good person!

Therefore, Fia, the innocent girl who could be easily led away, felt at ease.

After a pleasant lunch, Ifia made her first friend, Cetaphil.

Her cheerful mood persisted until she returned to the office to organize documents. Ifia had a smiling face, making Amelia, who was constantly observing, raise an eyebrow.

She thought the little one might be down for a while. However, to her surprise, Ifia adjusted her mindset quickly, and there was no sign of gloominess.

Seeing this, Amelia withdrew her gaze and continued working. Since Ifia wanted to keep her identity hidden, she had to reduce the frequency of her watchful eyes to avoid being noticed by others.

Of course, that was just on the surface…

Regardless of Amelia’s thoughts, after Ifia finished tidying up her desk, she had some idle time. She began to discreetly observe the people around her.

Everyone else was diligently busy with work, not even taking the time to drink water. This made Ifia marvel silently, thinking that Amelia wasn’t some tyrant. Her colleagues were just too dedicated!

Just as Ifia was thinking how fortunate she was to be a small fry and not have to work so hard, she suddenly caught a glimpse of shadows moving on the glass partition in the adjacent area.

It seemed to be the pantry.

In just a second, she sensed the scent of gossip.

Ifia’s eyes lit up. Seeing that Amelia was busy with work, she didn’t speak up. Instead, she discreetly got up from her seat, pretending to hold a cup, and headed to the pantry.

When the door to the pantry opened and then closed, listening to the chattering voices of colleagues, Ifia felt that her previous judgment was wrong. Not everyone was a workaholic, there were others who slacked off like her.

Cetaphil was also in the pantry. When she saw Ifia, she quickly raised her hand in a friendly gesture, clearly indicating their good relationship.

Due to Qulina’s false accusation, others sympathized with the intern. Due to the absence of conflicting interests, everyone maintained a friendly attitude, smiling and greeting Ifia one by one before continuing their previous discussion.

“The performance appraisal for this year is about to begin. I wonder if anyone in our department can get a supervisor’s recommendation?”

“Supervisor’s recommendation? Since Miss Barlen joined this department, supervisor recommendations have disappeared!”

“Oh well, let’s have confidence in the future!”

“Forget it, there’s no chance.”

As Ifia didn’t like the bitterness of coffee, she held a cup, only receiving hot water. She stood silently on the side, listening to her colleagues sighing. When she heard Amelia’s name and the mention of supervisor recommendations, Ifia’s eyes were filled with curiosity.

It seemed that she was unaware of the situation, so Cetaphil quietly explained, “Each department will have a performance appraisal, selecting the best few and giving them rewards.”

“Besides, if you can get a supervisor’s recommendation, you will receive His Majesty’s commendation. Promotion and salary increase are not a problem.”

“However, getting a supervisor’s recommendation is not easy. It requires the department head’s seal on your employment identity card.”

Cetaphil’s explanation was clear and concise, making Ifia nod in understanding. The discussion among others became more intense at this point.

“In five days, the performance appraisal will be conducted. Shall we make a bet to see if anyone can achieve it this year?”

“Is there even a need to bet?”

“Maybe there will be exceptions!”

“Alright, alright, I bet that no one can get Miss Barlen’s recommendation. The wager is a new bracelet from Paris’s latest collection!”

Having just enlightened the intern, Cetaphil heard her colleagues setting up a betting pool and excitedly chose to join in, boldly placing her wager. With her leading, others were eager to try their luck and followed suit.

“I also bet that no one can get Miss Barlen’s recommendation. The wager is this gemstone ring on my hand.”

“Tsk tsk, all of you are betting on no one succeeding. Then I’ll go against the flow. The wager is a box of Taric Kingdom’s limited edition coffee, which I finally got from someone I know!”

Watching everyone lively engaged, Ifia’s eyes lit up.

She wanted to join the bet too!
