Author Note:

Regarding the Interlude

As it seems this is an interlude, I’ve written it as the author pleases, without adding furigana.

Additionally, following the continental map, I’ve included illustrations that were previously published.

Though I initially removed it, considering it deviated from the current cover art and the overall atmosphere of the story, it has been quietly revived due to popular demand. For those who are fond of the current cover art, it’s recommended to overlook this section.

Character List up to the Capital Arc (In Order of Appearance)

[Maria]

Real Name: Mari Akizuki.

Despite being over twenty years old, she looks like an elementary school student, which is a secret source of insecurity for her.

She pushes herself beyond her limits to support her family and ends up in a coma for five years due to the strain and injury.

In the real world, she cannot move freely and is a weak individual who cannot survive without the help of her siblings.

Feeling guilty for being alive, she starts playing Mebius World Online at her siblings’ suggestion.

Though she had never played games before, she gains many connections in the world of Mebius, where she helps and is helped by others, eventually allowing herself to accept her existence.

These connections and feelings manifest as an invisible “power,” although she is unaware of it.

Her current anxieties revolve around where her immense karma will lead her and the escalating actions of the Young Saint Sect.

“Peace” has yet to return home after running away and is already given up by herself.

Her specialty skill is “Far Sight.”

Only she knows how far she can see at the moment…

[Masato]

Real Name: Masato Akizuki.

Maria’s younger brother who used to be mischievous, but after his sister fell ill, he reevaluated himself and decided to dedicate himself to doing what he can for her, showing a decisive nature.

He handles all the household chores for the Akizuki family, but Maria’s impact overshadows him a bit within the family.

You can do it, lil bro!

[Maki]

Real Name: Maki Akizuki.

Maria’s younger sister who, despite being a former shut-in, became a successful stock trader at a young age and is now the financial pillar supporting the Akizuki family. She loves her sister dearly.

When her mother passed away and her sister was going through a tough time, she respected her sister for caring about her even when she was shut-in and has no intention of forgiving anyone who harms her sister.

She often calls her brother sis-con, girl, look at the mirro-.. (Slap!)

…she’s a very good kid who cares a lot for her sister, I can’t find any other words, yes.

[Zagreus]

The management AI of Mebius World Online.

By the end of the interlude of the Capital Arc, it is hinted that he has become one of the management AI.

Having witnessed Maria’s journey, he finds hope in her.

However, only a few know what that hope really is.

[Van]

In the town of Eden, he was the first NPC Maria had a proper conversation with, and he is the older brother figure to the children living in the church.

He may seem like a troublemaker, but he’s the one who leads the children as their older brother figure.

Sometimes his pranks go too far, and he ends up being taken somewhere by the smiling Estelle.

[Estelle]

A kind-hearted sister who raised poor and orphaned children in the town of Eden.

She meets Maria, is helped by her, and is drawn to her kindness.

Recognized for her actions during official events, she moves from the town of Eden to the capital and settles down, leading a stable life.

Though older than Maria, Maria eventually starts calling her “Maria-sama” instead of just “Maria-san.”

Behind this change in address, there may or may not be blooming lilies…

By the way, she sees Allen from the Adventurer’s Guild as a reliable friend. (ooofffff)

[Allen]

Works as a staff member at the Adventurer’s Guild in the town of Eden.

Due to a bad first impression with Maria, he receives relatively harsh treatment, but it’s largely his own fault.

He has feelings for Estelle and is making advances, but they’re not getting through at all.

Since Estelle moved to the capital, he’s been striving in his work and planning to move to the capital himself, but it hasn’t happened yet.

[Roulette]

Maria’s first friend in the game and the head of the Tailor’s Guild.

Normally wears unimpressive circular glasses, but removing them transforms her into a combat maniac due to job-related influences.

Her strength at that time is so high that it’s hard to believe she mainly focuses on production.

She also works in fashion in real life and used to prioritize originality over selling designs, but after the events of the beta test, she switched to designs that resonate with people.

Although explosive sales have disappeared, she’s steadily increasing her regular customers.

[Vanessa]

Runs a restaurant and bar called “Rabbit’s Tail Inn” in the town of Eden.

Teaches Maria cooking skills and warmly welcomes her as part of the family.

It’s revealed late in the official event that she surprisingly has high combat abilities.

The potato chips Maria taught her how to make are still very popular.

[Zera]

Portrayed as a bewitching woman in the story, but it’s unclear if that’s true.

She taught Maria the role and skills of a jester and introduced her to a new job.

Her overwhelming strength is briefly shown towards the end of the official event.

[Nero]

Maria’s first family in the game.

Despite being a cute cat plush, he delivers electric shocks with lightning-fast cat punches thanks to Maria’s skills.

He sacrifices himself to protect Maria at the end of the Capital Arc, but his soul is inherited by a new family.

[Mareus]

The head of the Blacksmith’s Guild, somewhat of a valiant figure who continues to confess to women despite rejection.

Overshadowed by Roulette and Kanna, he lacks a strong presence.

He’s looked down upon by Guild members but is admired by those close to him.

[Kanna]

The head of the Carpenter Guild, who looks completely like a woman but has a dandy voice.

His fervent pursuit of the King of Caldia raises suspicions… (wait….. She is a He?!)

[Ryle]

A boy who, despite being a child, recklessly antagonizes the adventurer to avenge his mother, Retya.

Saved by Maria, he and his mother now live in the capital.

During the interlude of the Capital Arc, he seems to be thinking about Maria?

[Mephistopheles]

The mastermind behind the official event.

With a demonic appearance and a polite and yet rude attitude, he also has a gentlemanly side that keeps his promises.

At the end of the Capital Arc, he leaves Maria with words suggesting she is also a pawn, combining his power with the souls of Nero and Kuuga to give Maria a new family in the form of an egg.

It remains to be seen how his next encounter will unfold.

[Regina]

The receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild in the town of Eden.

She handles her business-like demeanor well and is competent at her job.

[Kuuga]

A polar bear-shaped automaton crafted by the top three producers with all their might.

His sprinting with Maria aboard through enemy lines was a topic of conversation even during the official event.

He’s more defensively oriented in battle.

At the end of the Capital Arc, he stood as a shield, ignoring Maria’s order and protecting her to the end in front of the Empire’s adventurers.

His soul, like Nero’s, has been inherited by a new family.

[Leon]

A former member of the conquering group, he was a top warrior player.

His arrogant attitude was backed up by his strength, but Maria shattered his confidence during the official event, leading him to hold a grudge.

Exploiting those feelings, Mephistopheles manipulated him into joining a group PK aimed at Maria.

He is ultimately slain by the awakened Gils.

[Mist]

Former conquering group member, top mage player.

Doesn’t hide her affection for Leon and can’t forgive Maria (or at least she thinks so) for hurting Leon.

Unlike Leon, she actively participates in targeting Maria in the group PK with clear hostility.

She also gets slain by the awakened Gils.

[Arx]

Former conquering group member, skilled thief.

He’s carefree and doesn’t necessarily idolize Leon, but he’s often seen acting alongside him.

Also slain by the awakened Gills.

[Giran]

Former conquering group member, top knight player.

Quiet and doesn’t speak much, but he sticks with Leon.

The first to be hit by Gils’ “Calamity.”

[Lotus]

Former conquering group member, skilled cleric.

Like Giran, she doesn’t say much and sticks with Leon.

After Giran is defeated by the awakened Gills, hse’s slain shortly afterward.

[Graham]

In reality, he’s a father struggling between work and family as he’s married with children.

However, his most notable feature is being the founder of the Young Saint Sect and the clan master.

Initially referred to Maria as “Maria-san,” but gradually started calling her “Goddess” or “Guru” instead.

While he intended to keep it a secret at first, he eventually stopped hiding it altogether.

Primarily, he prioritizes acting for Maria’s sake in a gentlemanly manner, but he’s unaware that he’s being targeted by Maki.

Where he’ll end up, both in reality and in the game, remains a mystery…

[Yuuki]

Real name: Sera Yuuki.

Works in public relations at Caduceus Corporation and has been quite active in responding to Maki’s requests.

Only spoke to Maria right after the start of the Capital Arc and was one of those influenced by her heartfelt emotions.

[Areis Roa Caldia]

The young king of Caldia.

Has decisiveness and initiative, and is loved by both his people and his subjects.

However, he has a wild side, such as investing pocket money to create a hidden passage from the royal castle to Maria’s home, which seems a bit regrettable.

Shows glimpses of his combat prowess at the end of the Capital Arc, but feels a bit overshadowed by Mephistopheles and the Empress, as all the credit goes to them.

[Simon]

An old man living in the capital.

Actually quite knowledgeable about delicious food, to the point where even the citizens rely on his information.

Arguably the main cause of Maria opening the Fairy Cafeteria.

[Saha]

A brilliant researcher who, due to his brilliance, neglected his connections with people and ultimately ended up isolated and unemployed.

Made Masato lose his temper by insulting Maria when she was out for a walk.

Later, prompted by Maria, he reveals his background and the reason for his research.

Connects Maria to Maki, and then to Yuuki, making it possible to visit Caduceus Corporation, but what happens afterward remains to be seen…

[Retya]

A widowed mother with a tumultuous life.

As a result of the official event, she and her son Ryle now live in the capital after moving from a now-deceased town.

Feels she owes Maria an unrepayable debt and, following her late husband’s wishes, holds Maria in high regard as a daughter.

Her business acumen is not something that can be summed up in just one word.

[Brutt]

The gatekeeper at the gate separating the outer and inner parts of the capital.

Quiet and large-bodied, he fits the appearance of a gatekeeper well, but his most notable feature is that he has connections to the Young Saint Sect.

[Emma]

A child living in the outer part of the capital.

She has no parents, and her only family is her brother, Roma.

Meets Maria and gets the chance to have a warm meal, but what happens afterward is unclear…

[Roma]

A child living in the outer part of the capital, Emma’s brother.

He’s a kind-hearted child who, even if he’s hungry himself, will share his apple with Bruta, who hasn’t received one when they’re together.

[Bart]

Former conquering member who chose the thorny path of remaining in Caldia even after their karma fell.

In the capital, he endured mistreatment from the residents, but was encouraged by Maria.

He plays a significant role towards the end of the capital chapter, and his achievements and actions are recognized, with his karma forgiven by the king himself.

It was planned to end on a positive note with Bart shedding tears, but he is abducted by Graham.

It is uncertain whether he joined (or was forced to join) the Young Saint Sect, but he is no longer alone.

[Wilhelmina von Legios]

The Empress of the neighboring country of Legios who appeared towards the end of the capital chapter.

Though she appears dictatorial, she possesses the strength to match.

However, she is not attached to the throne; if someone stronger and worthy of inheriting the throne appears, she is prepared to step down.

While the word “cold-blooded” suits her, there are glimpses of hesitation in dealing with the purge of her brother, Nager.

[Nager von Regios? (????)

Wilhelmina’s younger brother.

Under the shadow of his overpowering sister, he had a stifled upbringing, but before his story could be explored, he was frozen, a somewhat pitiable individual.

What became of him after he returned to the empire is unknown.

[Gils]

A doll created by gathering the best technology available to the top three of the Production Guild, centered around the [Chaos Wild Soul] given to Maria as a special reward for an official event, initially showing hostility towards adventurers including Maria due to the nature of its core, but as he interacts with Maria, he begins to develop its own consciousness, and his attitude towards Maria changes.

At the end of the capital chapter, triggered by Maria’s wailing, his core recognizes Maria and awakens.

Upon awakening, he acknowledges himself as Maria’s family, and using the magic stones of his oldest and older brothers as eyes, he inherits their will.

While strong enough even barehanded, through [Inheritance of the Soul], he inherits Maria’s skills and stats, becoming powerful when wielding [Dragon Thread], to the extent of single-handedly slaughtering many imperial adventurers.

In the battle against Leon and his group, he used another skill, [Calamity], to obliterate Gillan and Leon.

[Black Egg]

Created towards the end of the capital chapter by infusing Mephistopheles’ power into Nero and Kuga’s magic stones.

It grows by consuming weapons and armor and is hinted to become a new member of Maria’s family.

Its appearance in the next chapter…

[Yatsuka]

The president of the Caduceus Company.

Despite his appearance resembling a traditional Japanese salaryman, he operates Mebius World Online with a clear purpose.
