Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 145.1
The Two Boys
Hearing the voices, Elena hurriedly put on the hood of her cloak to hide her face.
The two people watching us were a Cruz and a Dark Elf. Both of them look the same age as us, but like us, their appearance may not always match their actual age.
The age of the elven species, which were particularly long-lived, was difficult to discern from their appearance. The Dark Elves gave me a sharp look, and when I hid Elena from their gaze to protect her, the Cruz boy noticed and lightly tapped the Dark Elf on the shoulder.
“Camille, don’t scare the girls.”
“…”
So he said, and the Dark Elf called Camille turned on his heel without changing his expression, while the remaining Cruz boy shrugged his shoulders, let out a wry smile, and with a friendly smile on his face, he pointed with his fingertips to the place where the guild business was done, and finally waved lightly, and followed Camille out of the Hogloss Trading Company building.
“…Aria.”
“It’s okay.”
It was a strange…if not suspicious…duo. Both were still young, but seemed reasonably competent. They were also covering their bodies with a cloak, so I could not accurately appraise them, but I guessed it was also to hide their abilities.
However, from their attitude, I did not think that they were the kind of people who would tell people that we were Mercedesans. I wondered if Elena also sensed this, and her caution was not toward them.
In the Hogloss Trading Company, the store selling goods and the guild business area where adventurers hang out were adjacent to each other. Even now, as I entered the building, I could feel a certain number of eyes on me.
Perhaps they were looking at us with a price. From their point of view, we were two people who were suspicious enough.
We had no idea what kind of response they would give us, but that boy probably told us that there was a possibility of an attack.
We would need to be in touch with one of the four factions, but we would not be interested in joining with the two mobster groups. So we wondered which would be better, the remaining Hogloss Trading Company or Kirli Trading Company?
We would need to decide how to deal with Hogloss Trading Company, depending on how they responded to the newcomers.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
I called out to Elena and we too exited the building. At the same time, we felt a few people moving and they caught up with us even though we were still on the premises.
“Oh, wait, you ladies. You’ve come all this way, and you’re leaving without even saying hello?”
Three men called out to us: two Cruz Men and a Dog Beastman.
They were dressed in light beetle-type clothing and thin jackets to protect them from the sun, and were about Rank 3. Their combat power was over 350, making them more than middle class adventurers.
“What do you want?”
“Your voice is young…. In this town, there aren’t many newcomers outside the merchant class, so I’ve been getting a certain amount of information. You must be the girl who took care of those guys at the bar. From the looks of it, you have some power, but don’t think you’re the hotshot, newcomers?”
The Cruz man in the middle with the spear tried to put pressure on us.
The ones I killed at the bar were low-level members of the Liezan group, which united the thugs of other races and the red-light district. Then these guys must be members of the Liezan group.
“I heard that power is all you need here?”
“Yes, that’s right. I say, it’s the guys who are too smart for their own good who are the ones to blame. That’s why here, the power of the organization is–“
“What do you want?”
I interrupted the man, and the Dog-Beastman to my right bared his fangs in annoyance.
“You, you know what’s going to happen to you when you talk like that, little girl.”
With his hands on the twin swords at his waist, the Dog-Beastman approached me and exhaled his beastly breath. Ignoring the beastman and turning my gaze to the Cruz man first, the man grinned at me revealing his white teeth.
“Join the Liezan group, little girl. The adventurers in this town are run by the dwarves. The rest of the races have to join us to survive as adventurers. Besides, you could also get a job in the red-light district if you work for us.
The men on either side laugh at the man’s words.
“…I see.”
The adventurers in this town are only allowed to be Dwarves, and the Liezan group wanted to cut down on that by gathering other races?
In a way, it was a legitimate… proposal. If we joined the Liezan group, we could live as adventurers, or as “Women” we could take other paths.
But our answer was clear from the start.
“Rejected.”
My magic control, now at level 5, refined my magic power, and the strength of my muscles was increased, and with the bottom of my palm, I launched myself below the jaws of the Dog-Beastman, grabbed his head and slammed it into the rough stone floor.
The man on the left side of the Cruzian, stunned for a moment, pulled out a scimitar…and just before the iron blade was pulled out of its sheath, a crossbow arrow, which I pulled out of [Shadow Storage] with enhanced agility, shot from the man’s left eye and pierced through his brain. It pierced through his brain.
“…huh.”
In an instant, his fellow Rank 3 fighters were killed, and the remaining man groaned.
“You, you and your Liezan group–“
“What are you doing!”
At that moment, a voice echoes from behind the Curz man, who was about to ready his spear.
With the sound like a crushing noise on the sandstone floor, a dark-skinned, one-eyed dwarf with a waist-length, pure white beard emerged from the Hogloss Trading Company building.
The old dwarf, who was probably older than Galbas, stepped out, dressed in chainmail and carrying a huge halberd made of magic steel on his shoulder, as if to intimidate those around him.
“Zilgan…”
The Cruz man who noticed him and unconsciously took a step back
Zilgan, was that the name of the Dwarf?
[Zilgan][Race: Mountain Dwarf Male][Rank ?]
[Magic Power: 220/220][Strength: 438/454]
[Total Combat Power: 1413 (With Physical Enhancements: 1707)]
Strong… I’d say it was in the upper range of Rank 4, or even lower Rank 5.
Zilgan stopped to look at the body lying there and at me, raised one eyebrow lightly, and stared at the Cruz man with one eye wide open.
“You’re the junior member of the Liezan group, aren’t you? Listen to me, young man. As long as you’re an adventurer, I don’t care who you belong to. But…”
“Wait, wait!”
Just as the man was about to step back, a halberd was brandished like a tree branch, biting into his gut and sending his upper body flying across the street.
“You think I’m going to let a guy try to kidnap an adventurer right in front of me? Hey, get rid of those corpses!”
Zilgan ordered before the man he cut in half fell to the ground, and slowly turned his gaze back to me amidst the screams of the young dwarves who came to clean up the corpse and the onlookers from the street.
“”…””
Zilgan and I stared at each other in silence. The tense air around us was so tense that voices died down around us, and as those who had been cleaning up the bodies gasped in fright, Zilgan let his voice quietly trailed off.
“You, what’s your name?”
“Aria.”
I answered shortly, and Zilgan, who raised the edge of his lips slightly, turned away, carrying the magic steel halberd on his shoulder.
“Strong ones are welcome. Don’t misjudge me, though, okay?”
