One in particular, Viscountess Alicia Mercis.

She was the daughter of the Mercis family, a branch of the Melrose family, the same old royal family as Dandol, and she slipped into the Crown Prince’s heart, which had been weakened by royal ties, and before long she had seduced him.

It was difficult to get rid of the daughter who was the attendant of the princess. In the first place, she realized at the first glance that she was no match for her. But the other girl was different. She must be kept away from Clara and the Crown Prince as soon as possible.

She did not want Clara to get involved in the underworld, if at all possible, but since Clara had made the decision, Hilda was not afraid to take the worst course of action.

Hilda had “poison” in her hands. It was an external poison invented by Evil Race, a member of the Assassin’s Guild, but never perfected, developed by an alchemist who stole the method from the Guild.

It could be used either as a powder to be inhaled or dissolved and mixed into food. The stronger the poison become, the stronger the odor gets, and the more it was exposed to the air, the more rapidly its effects diminish.

However, this poison also had its drawbacks. The poison only worked on people who did not have the Magic Stone in their bodies.

The main ingredient of this poison was “human Magic Stone. The humans who ingest this poison react with the blood inside their bodies, creating an irregularly shaped pseudo Magic Stone in their hearts, which stops the blood flow and leads to death.

So, even if the same poison was created with the Magic Stone of a monster, it would have no effect on the monster that originally had the Magic Stone. And it would have no effect on the nobles, almost all of whom use Magic. However, only Alicia Mercis, a former commoner who still could not use Magic, could be killed with certainty.

It would be rare for her poisoners to be as resistant to poison as Hilda, but without the Magic Stone. That is why it should be possible to mix the poison without being noticed.

But Clara did not even think of eliminating Alicia.

Even though she hated her, she did not want to kill her. She wanted to give her a small amount of sub-lethal poison, create a blood clot, develop a heart ailment, and eliminate her from this school.

Generally, in this school, students below the middle-class nobility are placed in the student dormitories. However, unlike lower-class nobles, who are numerous, middle-class nobles could rent a small mansion with similar buildings.

However, Hilda’s status is that of an attendant of Clara, the prospective queen. Now that most of the students have moved to their own estates or to a villa in the royal capital, the mere fact that Clara’s attendant was walking around the area was enough to make her suspect in the event of any incident.

She could not allow her true identity to be discovered, even if she made a mistake. She must sneak in undetected and complete her objective.

After the Evil Race’s intrusion, the campus was more heavily guarded than before. Most of the guards were assigned to the upper-class nobles, but even so, it was dangerous for even Hilda, a former member of the Assassin’s Guild with two levels of covert skills, to sneak directly into the residence of a middle-class noble.

However, there was always a gap in everything. It was dangerous to sneak into the mansion or into the kitchen, but not so in the laundry room, where freshly taken-in sheets and covers were left in the linen building next to the laundry.

The best quality items probably belonged to the students who were nobles. There were still a few middle-class nobles left, but if they were students with Magic Stone, there would be no problem.

The moment she crept up to the linen wing and approached to unlock its door–

Hilda sensed a slight killing intent, and as she reflexively jumped to avoid it, a throwing knife pierced the door.

A dark-skinned boy appeared as if oozing out of the darkness of the night.

The Cruzian boy, the butler of the target, Alicia Mercis, walked soundlessly and pointed a cold gaze and a black-bladed straight sword from his sleeve at Hilda.
