Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 166.5
Chaco and the children screamed as a fireball shot out by the dragon hit the outer wall of the top floor, and shards of the shattered wall hit the balloon.
“They’re on to us! Ron, how’s the balloon?”
“I don’t know. But it was too late to go up!”
The balloon was made of demon leather to resist the monsters in the sky. But maybe air was leaking from somewhere due to the impact or the gravel that hit it just now.
“…”
I turned my eyes to the dragon as I held onto the edge of the basket.
I guess it didn’t miss us after all…. But I also noticed something with the current attack.
I have heard that a Dragon’s Breath was one of [Dragon Magic], not an organ that spews flames inside its body.
A dragon could fly with such a huge body and release its breath with a Dragon’s roar, just like the language of spirits used by humans to exercise their magic.
But when my “eyes” saw the current breath, I felt that it was the same as [Combat Skill], which was a non-attribute magic.
If that was the case, there should be a pause, just like when a human being performed combat skills. The combat skill could not be used continuously. How long would it take for the attack to cool down? A few tens of seconds? Or a few minutes? In that case…I know what I have to do.
“Aria, wait!”
Elena screamed and grabbed my hand, which was gripping the edge, tightly.
“What are you thinking!”
Her scream and question were filled with grief, as if she already knew the answer.
“Let go…”
“No…! Why are you doing this?”
Elena’s hand gripped mine as I tried to shake it off, but she held it so tightly that it turned white.
“If I don’t, we’ll all die.”
“So, why? You alone are the one who should have to do it…”
“I don’t understand!”
“You don’t understand? Why Aria?”
Even Elena knew what situation we were in.
As long as the enemy was aware of us, our chances of survival were slim to none, even if we remained here. Even if we could fly away, we would have to rely on our luck to survive the Dragon’s Breath.
In order for us to survive, one of us had to stay behind and stall them. If there was anyone who could do that before the dragon spewed its breath again, it was only me, the one with the most fighting power.
“Then I’ll stay too! You are my–“
Elena swallowed her words as she was about to say something.
That was something she shouldn’t have said. As a princess, she should never speak of it.
That day when we were young…even if our paths were different, we swore to each other that we would walk down the thorny path that we had decided to take, because it was a “promise” that we had made together.
“Elena.”
“kuh.”
I called her by her real name, not her fake one, and Elena raised her tear-stained face.
“I want Elena to live.”
“I, I want–“
“I don’t want Elena to die, I want Elena to fulfill her dreams, I want everything she believes in to come true.”
“Why… how… how could I…?”
Elena’s eyes widen as I suddenly change my tone and break into a monologue, and I place my other hand on hers, which was still clutching my hand.
“Because Elena is my best ‘Friend’.”
Her blue eyes, still wide open, reflected the innocent smile I had seen in my childhood, a smile I had forgotten.
“—-!”
I released my hand from Elena’s grasp, which had lost its strength for a moment, and I softly pushed myself away from the balloon’s basket.
Elena leaned forward after me, her white hand grasping the sky to grab my hand as I moved away.
“–Aria…Ariaaaaaa!!!!”
I didn’t say goodbye.
I smiled, squinting my eyes at Elena as she finally moved away, and turned my head back to look sharply at the Demons and the Dragon.
“–[Iron Rose]–“
My peach-blonde hair turned gray-iron, like burnt iron, as it fluttered.
Kicking at the outer wall, trailing like a broom star the residue of light that spreads out like scattered silver wings, I flew down the wall, soaring down to the dry land, glaring at the Demon Army that was closing in on us.
“I’ll show you my fight.”
