After a few strikes and a simultaneous push out of the passageway where she was hiding, the woman did not give chase but kept her distance for a moment and stood next to the man who had appeared to protect the supply convoy.

“Oh, I didn’t really expect you to come!”

“Charlemagne-sama’s words can never be wrong!”

“…The twin demon tribe, huh?”

I look at them, black knife and dagger at the ready. They were still young…a man and a woman who looked about twenty years old by human terms, with different lengths of hair, but the same face.

“That’s right, woman of the human race. I am Selik, a “warrior” of the Demon Race.”

“I am Seda, also a warrior. Charlemagne-sama has been warning us about the attack of the supply convoy, but I didn’t think you’d come to us.”

“You seem to think you’ve set us up nicely, human woman that Master Charlemagne recognized, but it turns out we were better at it than you. Don’t think you can escape against all of us here.”

“…”

I see, it seems that I was the one who was “trapped”.

It seemed that the Demon Clan Chief had sent a few warriors to guard their supply convoy, knowing that their protection would be thin. The fact that the supply convoy was equipped with full-body armor may have been in anticipation of my arrival.

I wondered if that strange sensation was due to the fact that these twins were hiding in the shadows.

The man in soft leather armor, Selik, used a [Shadow Walker] – a Level 4 Dark Magic. And since Seda went head-to-head with me, I sensed that she had at least Level 4 swordsmanship skills.

Rank 4 Magic Master and Warrior twins. Moreover, their magic system and fighting style were similar to mine, so I felt it was difficult to overcome them. But–

“I see, that’s convenient.”

“-What?”

The two were momentarily distracted by a “ground rumbling” that came from behind them. I took advantage of this opportunity to throw two knives from my [Shadow Storage] at the same time, and just in time to avoid it, the supply team was being attacked from behind by another Great Boar.

“Who said I only have one plan?”

“Tsk!”

The man clicked his tongue when he noticed my aim. Both Selik and Seda could take down the Great Boar alone, but this time the situation was different.

They could not turn their backs on me and go to the aid of the supply convoy because I was right in front of them, concealed from them.

And…I would not miss a great opportunity to take down two strong warriors who were allocated here.

“Well then, let’s get started. Let’s have a warrior’s fight.”

***

There were multiple entrances to the dungeon beneath Demon Fort, but they were not limited to the interior.

The dungeon, which had blocked every entrance it had created to breathe, had created entrances far away from the fort, like a great tree growing roots.

Many of them were buried undiscovered and some of them were managed without being reported to the state by the clans that discovered them.

[Gaaaah!]

“A Black beast!?”

“It’s a monster!”

In the moonlit night, a black beast suddenly attacked a group of Dark Elves who were preparing in front of the entrance of the dungeon.

“Gaaaahhh!”

“This is not just a monster, this is–“

The men of Rank 2 and 3 were torn apart as easily as paper, and the man who tried to raise his voice in alarm was decapitated without a sound by a woman creeping up behind them.

A few minutes later, the only ones standing on their feet were the black beast and the woman – Nero and Celeshura, and the only surviving man looked up at Celeshura, his black face turning blue.

“You… War Demon! You’re alive!”

Frowning at the man’s words, Celeshura kicked him in the jaw.

“I can’t believe someone still remembers me after fifty years…. Anyway, I’ll let you tell me what you know.”

It would take a month to get from the town of Cutlass to the Demon fort on foot if they crossed the outer desert, and two weeks if they crossed the ruins. But Celeshura, a former Demon Army warrior, knew some of the loopholes used by the Demon Army.

The most dangerous of these paths could be covered in a matter of days with Nero’s running ability.

So they headed to the Demon Fort, relying on her memories, and were about to enter the fort through the dungeon they knew when they ran into these unlucky fellows.

“Selection Ritual? Prince Warrior and a peach blonde human!”

Celeshura, who got the information, felt a massive headache and held her head in her hands. Moreover, when she heard the names of those participating, she let out a deep sigh.

“…Elgrim?”

The Magic Clan Elder Elgrim. He was the man whom Celeshura once looked up to as her teacher and trained her Sorcery and assassination techniques.

Even today, she could not say with certainty that she would be able to beat him. But more than the fear of his master, Celeshura was concerned about something else: the hazy image of a young girl she had not seen in decades passed through Celeshura’s mind.

(…Is that little girl there too, by any chance…)

“Shall we go, Nero?”

–Go–

The two of them entered the dungeon with expressions containing a sense of urgency.

Shortly after…at the entrance to the dungeon where Celeshura and Nero disappeared, the man who had been tied hand and foot and rolled over suddenly burst into flames as if ignited, and beside him, with a flowery smile on her face, a black-haired girl softly disappeared into the dungeon.
