Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 188.1
The End of a Wish 1
(…Where am I?)
In the middle of the battle, I was suddenly blown away by a transfer magic circle that appeared beneath my feet, and I found myself in a dimly lit building.
This place was clearly not in a dungeon. Stone floors and stone walls…but the material itself gives off a faint light, and a dungeon would never be completely dark, but there was natural darkness here.
It might have been a castle or fortress somewhere. There was no sign of monsters, not even a sign of people. …No, I sense only one strong magical presence. But contrary to the strength of its magical power, like that of a high-ranking monster, its life force was surprisingly weak.
Perhaps it was a weakened spirit life form like the water spirits we had fought before…. That was the only sign I could sense in this place. I gently wiped the blood glue from my knife and used [Purification] to remove the smell of returning blood, then used Concealment to approach the presence.
If it were true, I shouldn’t have approached danger myself. But if the “voice” I heard was the spirit of the dungeon, then it would make sense for us to meet the owner of this presence.
The scent of human life was clearly still present in the building, but I was more alarmed by the “smell of death” than by the smell of life. But I sensed a smell of “death” that exceeded everything, making me more alert.
And then…
“…Who are you and what are you doing here at this time of night?”
The “person” was standing alone in a large room, on a terrace that was wide open, illuminated by the moonlight.
The Dark Elf, with long silver hair swaying in the night wind, had a powerful magic power, but at the same time, his fragile, dark eyes turned toward me, hidden in the darkness.
“…What are you doing here?”
He asked me back, his eyes widened in surprise.
“You sound like a lost person…. It appears that you are not someone who has come to take my life.”
“I don’t have time to come here to kill the dying.”
“I see…”
He smiled lightly, self-mockingly at my words, and then sat down collapsing into a chair on the terrace, letting his words slip out like a sigh.
“If you’re a thief, take whatever you want. I only keep the bare minimum, but if you are found by anyone else, you’ll be in trouble… gufu.”
He gulped down a cup of what looked like liquor from the table and choked on his blood.
Who was he? I have some idea, but why would a dungeon spirit send me to this person?
“Do you want to die?”
I felt no will to live from him. Loneliness…hopelessness…negative emotions seemed to be entangled in his mind, and he was wishing for his own death.
He gave the impression of a recluse who had given up on everything, but on a whim, he answered my question.
“Do you think I want to die…? That may be true. When my wife…the woman I loved died, my heart probably died as well.”
*Karan….
He slides his hand down to slurp the cup again, and as its plate rolls away, he leaned back deeply in his chair as if in resignation.
“She was all I had. At first, it was just an obsession. But she saved my foolish heart, gave me hope, and loved me.”
“…Then, that means all your feelings for her were in vain.”
“What…?”
