Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 189.1
The End of a Wish 2
“Aria…? Why are you here? No, that’s not it… where am I?”
“Calm down Camille, it seems we have been summoned by the dungeon Spirit.”
I took a few steps away from Camille, keeping my hand on my weapon and keeping my eyes open to see if there were any enemies around.
Even though this was an unusual space, I did not believe that this Camille was a fake. It would not be surprising what a spirit would do, but the spirit here did not seem to be capable of such mischief.
The battle in this dungeon must have helped him develop undeniably, Camille’s presence felt differently after seeing him for the first time in a few days, with the blood sticking to his cloak and leather armor and without any of the slackness that he had before.
“A space made by the spirit…. So there is a spirit in here?”
“Yes, indeed there is. But the presence disappeared as if it had been replaced by you. It may be watching us from somewhere, or it may be fulfilling someone’s wish.”
The spirit here seemed relatively sane, but even so, their standards were far from those of humans, so I couldn’t be sure how it fulfilled the other’s wishes, or how it might distort them.
“…A wish?”
Camille mumbled, as if repeating my words, and stared at his hand, which had dried blood stuck to it.
“…We were heading deeper into the dungeon when suddenly a Magic formation appeared under our feet, and we were sent somewhere. It was a large room with an altar of some sort, and just as I was sure there was someone else there, I heard the voice of “Father”…”
Camille’s father, so it was that man I met.
After he spoke to me, he seemed to have been sent away too… or was the time flow out of sync? Even though we were called at about the same time, the flow of time may have been different while we were here than outside. …we shouldn’t stay here too long.
“My father’s voice, echoing directly in my head, said one word…[don’t die]. Hey, are you kidding me? It was because of that man who wanted to die, that the extremists started moving on their own, and they started a war, and thousands of people died…”
“Indeed.”
What he did was not something a man in the position of King should do.
I learned from Elena that a King was someone who was capable of separating the grief of the death of a loved one from, or his feelings of grief, and enduring for the sake of his people.
“Was Camille’s father just a man who can change his mind on a whim?”
When I said this, Camille’s mouth twisted as if she had just chewed on something bitter.
“Yeah… you could say so in this case. No, I was made aware of it. In my heart…not only in Kadori and Izelle, but also in Charlemagne, Doehill, and the other Dark Elves who were chosen to be warriors, they had a single wish. They all hoped in some corner of their hearts that father would live continue to live…”
Aside from the war hardliners like Elgrim and Aishe, those who were thinking of their friends and the whole of the Demon Race, hoped somewhere in their hearts that the Demon King would lead them again.
It seemed to me that Doehill and Charlemagne’s participation in the selection ceremony was not a result of an active desire to start a war, but rather a search for a way for their clan to survive.
I still did not understand why they needed me for this “wish,” but perhaps they needed a “miracle drug” to conquer poison.
“So, what are you going to do, Camille?”
Camille, realizing the meaning of my question, looked up from where he was standing.
