“Ah, the sun is dazzling…”

This was his third day in another world.

The first course of action today was to seek a base, but with a twist: the search would be conducted from the sky, as far upward as possible.

To be specific, he was planning to look for something conspicuous in this sea of trees as well as to test how far he could fly.

“Shall I set out now, then?

He propelled himself out of the tree where he had been sleeping and into the sky with a vigorous leap, just as he had done the day before.

“Hyulooo!”

Once in the sky, with a view of the sunrise, he ascended higher and higher, with the greenery blanketed below him.

As the area of visibility broadened, a number of distinctive things came into sight.

When he felt it was impossible to soar any higher, he came to a halt and took in his surroundings.

“Oh…”

Assuming the sun rose from the east, there was a farming village to the west where he initially awoke, and after that, there was a gap revealing various stream-like things, but the greenery extended in general. Within that, a faint mountain, horizon, and city-like structure can be distinguished in the distance.

But it wasn’t such locations that attracted his attention; it was two things that he could recognize at a glance, even in the midst of the lush vegetation.

The first was a massive lake to the north, which might be one of the water sources based on the stream.

The other was a gigantic tree visible to the southeast, which was evidently several times the size of other trees, with the surrounding flora entirely losing their color, possibly due to the gigantic tree absorbing all the nutrients from the lake, or perhaps because they were under the shade of the tree.

These two distinctive landmarks were conspicuous not only in terms of their size but also because the amount of phosphorescence emitted from them was remarkably greater than that of their surroundings.

Perhaps these will be what people call a “sacred place” on earth.

“However, I don’t feel inclined to go there.”

While gazing at the overflowing phosphorescence, a murmur inadvertently emerged from his mouth.

Light blue phosphorescence was emanating from the massive lake and pale green phosphorescence was flowing from the gigantic tree, but along with the phosphorescence, there was a substantial amount of phosphorescence of another color, which seemed to be that of an animal.

Yeah, there is definitely something dangerous out there. If I encountered them, it would definitively be the end of my life.

Therefore, he was better off steering clear of those two places.

“In that case…”

He surveyed his environment as he progressively descended in altitude.

Even the forest trees, which appeared to be uniformly tall at high elevations, were unexpected of varying heights when viewed at low altitudes.

In the midst of it all, he found a place that was slightly elevated in comparison to the surrounding area, which made him head for the place, finishing off a bird or so along the way and sipping its blood.

“Chu… oh… this is somehow fascinating.”

There it was, an enormous boulder.

It was shaped like an egg, about 10 meters high, with moss and ivy covering its surface.

The most intriguing aspect of the boulder, though, was its protrusion from the surrounding ground, not its shape. It seemed as if it had been placed there after someone had gone through there.

“Hmm…”

He circled around the boulder.

It looked as if a huge blade or similar had been used to cut through the trees around the rock, giving it the impression of a small vacant lot.

With the shape of the boulder and the phosphorescent light leaking from it, it resembled some kind of ceremonial site.

“Yeah, this is a fascinating place, I suppose this is where I would set up my base.”

After going around the area and ascertaining the location of the stream and the distance between the two sacred places, he concluded that the boulder shape and the vacant lot would allow him to return safely even if he got lost in the forest by flying at high speed over the forest.

Another advantage of being in an open area would be that it would be difficult to be taken by surprise.

“Well then, I shall get right to work… ngh?”

So, he decided to immediately establish a base… But, after further reflection, he wondered what he needed to do to set up a base.

Therefore, he listed down the conditions that he thought would be appropriate to call a base.

1. It is a safe place to sleep.

2. Even if outside invaders come, there would be no worries.

3. It is not a problem if he does not go out for hunting to some extent.

4. Bath

5. Equipped with excretory facilities.

6. Have a warehouse.

Umm… So that’s roughly the gist of it.

At any rate, the first and second points should be addressed urgently. Unless something is done about this, it cannot be regarded as a base.

As for 3 and 6, I’ll deal with them later.

4 and 5 are not necessary since my body is a plant itself, but I would wish to have them if possible.

Ah, but I don’t need a toilet. In the first place, this body of mine doesn’t seem to have such a function, and it seems to have a mechanism for releasing toxic substances by agglomerating them into a single leaf, in the manner of a mangrove.

“Well, it’s nothing to be deeply concerned about, and now that I figured out what I need, I’m going to start building a base right away.”

With that, he stiffened his vine hands and set his sights on the trunk of a single tree.

The initial step was to build a house, even if it was a simple one. And to build a house, materials would be required, so a tree would be a perfect material here. That was why the first move was to break off this tree and turn it into a material.

“Oryaaa!”

And so he hit the tree trunk with an all-out punch… but the tree shook only mildly and was undamaged.

On the contrary…

“Ouch!?”

His hands that struck the tree were more painful.

Apparently, training was the first line of action.

Damn…
