Reincarnated into a Game as the Hero’s Friend - Chapter 225.1
If we were talking about my previous life, it would be around 10 AM. The leaders of the Anti-Coltrezis Expeditionary Force, centered around the Crown Prince, the Minister of War, and the two heads of the Order of the Knights, gathered in the military conference room.
This time, the majority of those who were part of the expeditionary force were young nobles. I suppose there was also the intention of having them accumulate military merit.
It might not be impossible for me to be here in the position of stable master, but it was clearly strange seeing me, who was still a student, in this room. It should be strange, but no one said anything, so I almost felt like I was the strange one to think that much.
Unlike the previous meeting held for handling refugee issues, I was now in a position where I could speak up in the meeting from the start. I didn’t know whether to feel uncomfortable about the change in my position or not. For now, I’ll just keep quiet.
Also, please stop using that perfume, Count Harfolk. I couldn’t tell him that directly, though.
“Thank you all for your hard work. Now, Kvaernergel, what is the situation on the Coltrezis side?” (Harfolk)
“Yes” (Kvaernergel)
Baron Kvaernergel, who was instructed by the Crown Prince, pointed to the map on the wall. It seems to be a map of the Coltrezis territory that Count Vogler told us about the other day. It was a flat map, but it was very well-made.
There were already several marks on the map, but the inverted triangle mark was the most common. This indicates places where water could be obtained, excluding rivers, and basically, troops would be moved based on the roads and these marks.
Of course, if the situation changes, that was another matter, but there was no reason to march through places where drinking water was scarce or to stray from the road unless it was necessary.
“It seems that the Coltrezis House is conscripting the people and building multiple forts in his territory.” (Kvaernergel)
“Even conscripted farmers?” (Harfolk)
“Yes.” (Kvaernergel)
Baron Kvaernergel nodded in response to Viscount Davrak’s question. It was not surprising that there were several people frowning. I had several forts and the like constructed during the pre-battle skirmishes of the Anheim siege, but it was a lot of work, and it was difficult to find the time and budget.
Moreover, if they build a number of strongholds, the enemy would need to spread their forces out to man those forts, which would normally be a bad move.
“The forts are spread out in a triangle with the central city of Colts at the apex of the Coltrezis domain.” (Kvaernergel)
Baron Kvaernergel stuck pins into the map to mark the forts. In my opinion, there would be disadvantages if they created forts fanned out in the direction of the royal capital. The center of the fan was the city of Colts. Four forts were being built near the border of Coltrezis House. Hmm, I see. The fort in Colts was to control the water supply, wasn’t it?
“I think the first one will be the town of Foan.” (Davrak’s)
“Indeed.” (Mitterk)
Viscount Davrak’s comment was met with a nod of agreement from Viscount Mitterk. Those two were a fearsome duo. They were also built like big bodybuilders, so it was a little hot to be seated in between them.
The town of Foan was on the line connecting city Colts and the royal capital. It was right in the center of the fan. It was a town of the same size as Anheim, and although it was not a border town, and it did not have the same sturdy walls as Anheim, it was still a different class to a hastily built fort.
If we left this place untouched, we would have to keep guarding the rear when attacking the stronghold of Coltrezis House, as well as the supply line. Naturally, the Coltrezis House would also be strengthening the defense system of this town.
However, when attacking Foan, there would be several forts on the Coltrezis side of the front line, as well as forts on both sides of the town of Foan, and even if you eliminate them, there would still be forts between Foan and Colts. It was a well-thought-out arrangement.
But wait a minute. If that was the enemy’s intention, then they must have a reasonable number of mobile troops. Do the Coltrezis have that many cavalry?
No, it was me who prevented the enemy’s cavalry from moving freely for a long period of time by buying up all the fodder. But when I think about the enemy’s deployment despite this… oh, I see.
