Reincarnated into a Game as the Hero’s Friend - Chapter 225.3
The Crown Prince spoke again, “It would be better to give a brief explanation of the domestic situation in Farlitz. Farlitz is currently stable, for better or worse, except for the matter of the Demon Army. The current king has been ruling the country for over twenty years.” (Crown Prince)
I believe the queen was from Delitzdam. It appears that the current king of Farlitz was a fairly good ruler. However, if the country remained stable for a long period of time, that would mean that their Knights would have no reason to be called upon.
“Even though the Knights had a chance to show their worth after the Demon King’s revival, no matter how much they fought the Demon Army, they didn’t get any satisfactory rewards or increase in territory. It appears that the Knights are becoming discontent.” (Crown Prince)
I suppose it was the job of those in power to do something about it, but my country of Bain, originally, had a large land area, so there was plenty of room to spare, and it was too stable that the country even had the leeway to take down a noble family that had done something stupid and replace them with someone else.
The Bain kingdom was just the right size that the King of Bain kingdom could properly manage it. It could be said that because the King of Bain kingdom was a domestic-oriented, benevolent ruler, this temperament backfired on him as other countries wanted to take advantage of him, which was both ironic and unfortunate.
“Then there’s the problem of King Farlitz. Recently, the people in charge of foreign affairs have been reporting that he is showing a more aggressive side negatively.” (Crown Prince)
In history, it was rare for a ruler to end his life as a benevolent ruler. On the other hand, there were countless examples of rulers who were praised as benevolent rulers at first but became tyrants in their later years. There were probably even more cases of rulers who were tyrants from the start.
In short, King Farlitz must have grown tired of being a “good ruler at home”. Whether it was ambition or a sense of adventure, he was awakened to that side of himself. Could this be the influence of the Demon Army?
“Then, a proposal may have come from the Coltrezis House, stating that they have received a divine oracle that a king would come from Coltrezis House. Whether it was true or not, King Farlitz did not care. He probably believed that if Farlitz cooperated with Coltrezis House, there was a good chance of victory. They are underestimating us.” (Crown Prince)
If Farlitz managed to bring Coltrezis territory into a semi-independent state and get a ransom or even a piece of territory from the Bain kingdom, they would be over the moon. They would also be able to satisfy their desire to win against our country, which was a great power. Although they were not in a hostile relationship, the Bain kingdom and Farlitz were not that close either.
But even if God did not exist, the influence of an oracle was definitely huge. Or perhaps, in addition to the influence of the oracle, as Grandpa Uwe said, Coltrezis House probably stopped thinking about difficult things, adding to this condition.
This problem could be worse than just dealing with the Coltrezis House, and those oracles were most likely tricks played by demons, so we might have to do something about them.
While I was thinking about such things, the Crown Prince once again looked at the map.
“I ask you to look at the map again with that situation in mind. Even if our army advances deep into Coltrezis territory and surrounds the capital city of Colts, you need to keep in mind that our army will be in danger if the Farlitz army cuts off our rear.” (Crown Prince)
“I see.” (Harfolk)
Count Harfolk nodded in agreement. The other participants also agreed.
“Therefore, we will plan based on the premise that Farlitz will join the war. If anyone has any objections, we will hear them all later. First…”
His Highness the Crown Prince explained the details of the battle plan. It was a bold plan that made sense, but it was also understandable that they were worried that the demon army might attack again, and that they couldn’t keep the army mobilized for a long period of time.
It was true that the best thing would be to win without fighting, but that was impossible now, and Coltrezis House was being too optimistic about the overall situation. If the Kingdom were to half-heartedly allow things to continue as they were, a small fire could easily turn into a forest fire.
At the same time, the Kingdom must also consider tightening up the situation both within and outside the nation. Thinking about it carefully, it was not just Farlitz who thought they could somehow deal with the demon army. It was not impossible that even among the nobles of the Bain kingdom, there would be some who have such a misunderstanding.
I suppose the Crown Prince was also aiming to issue a warning to nations other than Farlitz.
The meeting took about as long as it would take for lunch, but everyone understood the basic plan and then set about preparing for the attack. I would be better off completing my arrangements as well.
