Chapter 123 – Long Range
“Haruka-san. See you later…”
“Okay, see you later.”
With a feeling of regret, Shinku parted from Haruka.
She had planned to watch the concert with her friends, but now she felt sad. She thought that it would’ve been better if she stayed besides Haruka.
Since many of her acquaintances were coming to the concert today, she decided beforehand that she won’t get close to Haruka.
Once, she looked back.
She could see the happy figure of Haruka and Ria’s backs moving away from her.
A sharp pain ran through her heart.
Even though they were together. Even though she loves Haruka. Why does she have to leave? She thought.
Despite that it’s her own fault, Shinku couldn’t hide her frustration.
But today, Haruka invited Shinku to his house after the concert.
That fact eased up her anxiety a litte.
Shinku regained her composure and heads for her friends’ place.
On the other hand Haruka, with Ria in tow, goes to his assigned seat.
It was almost time for the concert to start, the number of atendees were growing rapidly.
“Ah, Harukaー”
“Obi-kun, good afternoon.”
When the two of them went to their seats, Miyako, Yunika, and Reika were already there waiting for them drinks in their hands.
Unlike Shinku, Miyako and Reika wanted to be with Haruka even though they knew that their acquaintances and classmates were coming.
They took their seats and lined up in the order of Ria, Haruka, Reika, Miyako, and Yunika.
“Please take care of me today.”
Reika smiled happily and placed her palm at the back of Haruka’s hand.
When Haruka involuntarily peered into Reika’s face, she narrowed her eyes and puts her index finger on her lips.
Music echoed throughout the venue, and Tachibana Kasumi, an idol who’s an A rank citizen, appeared on the stage under the spotlight.
The audiences’ tension was rising. Kasumi smiled and waved her hands charmingly.
Kasumi’s hair was a flashy pink. She wore it in a twintail, with light blue tints at the ends. Her hair floated in the air as if it’s ignoring the concept of gravity. She’s wearing a white blazer and a deep green skirts, probably a costume unique for student concerts.
Kasumi was the emcee of the concert. She introduced the participating bands, cutting the idle chat short as to not steal their spotlight.
Tsuyuri’s band, Susume Girls, was the last to perform.
The audience was obviously being lured to the watch the concert until the end with them as the bait.
“Okay, first students, you guys are up!”
Kasumi swept to the edge of the stage where the first band appeared.
The students, who were somewhat plainly dressed in contrast to the flashy colors of their instruments, were overwhelmed by the Kasumi’s presence, and stiffly answered her brief interview.
Eventually, Kasumi left the stage. The band leader said a word or two, and their performance began with an applause from the audience.
Since the bands that were performing at the concert were chosen from a very large number of applicants, it wasn’t surprising that their performance was so good that it surpassed that of an amateur.
Although Haruka himself was an newbie when it came to music, he can tell that they’re good.
There was no doubt that the band’s performance was excellent, but Haruka was unable to concentrate on them.
That’s because his right hand was being played with by Reika. She intertwined her fingers with his and caressed it sensually.
Finally, Reika leaned her head on Haruka’s shoulder and kissed him on the cheek, which prompted Haruka to check on her face.
When their eyes met, Reika smiled and leaned against Haruka even more.
Haruka thought that they haven’t made it official yet, maybe he remembered wrong.
Reika’s atmosphere was just like that of a lover.
Haruka may have stolen Reika’s first time by mistake, but there were no signs of Reika resenting him for it. If Haruka was honest, he doesn’t want to let go of Reika anymore.
As Haruka turned his attention back to the stage, he saw a floating eyeball staring at him from the void. Haruka was startled so much that he almost jumped.
“Hiih…”
The eyeball was sent by Miyako.
A second eyeball also materialized in the air. Three, then four, and so on, until there are over ten. The eyeballs gradually disappeared in the order when they appeared.
Since these eyeballs were set so that only Haruka could see them, both Reika and Ria who were on both of his sides didn’t react.
The number of eyeballs increased abnormally. The reason for that is aside from Miyako, Yunika also sent some of her own.
(What a nasty visual effect…)
Haruka glanced over the two culprits. There he could see Miyako and Yunika glaring at him, not even trying to hide their grumpy expressions.
He hurriedly turned his eyes back to the stage. Haruka broke out in a cold sweat.
Unaware of Haruka’s predicament, Reika remained happily entangled in Haruka’s arms.
Ria, who noticed Haruka’s condition, imitated Reika and leaned against him.
The pressure from Miyako and Yunika became stronger. The number of floating eyeballs increased further, some skulls even started appearing.
Feeling a sense of affection and suffocation at the same time, Haruka pretended to be calm and continued to watch to live performance.
The situation surrounded Haruka remained unchanged, the concert went on without a hitch.
Finally, it was time for Tsuyuri and the other members of Susume Girls to take the stage.
When Tsuyuri and the others came up, the audience started to make a commotion.
The reason was simple. Tsuyuri was standing at the center of the stage with a guitar in hand.
The guitarist of Susume Girls was a different girl, Tsuyuri should’ve been the drummer.
When Haruka got involved in the death game with Tsuyuri, he knew from their idle talk that she could play both the guitar and the bass. Haruka didn’t expect her to play the guitar at the concert, which was pretty surprising for him.
[Hello. I am Shirogane Tsuyuri, the drummer of Susume Girls.]
Tsuyuri’s quiet but clear voice echoed throughout the audience. Her voice was so charming that the audience unintentionally fell silent.
[I’ve decided to play the guitar today because of my selfishness.]
Tsuyuri’s words were received with anticipation, applause broke out in various parts ot the venue.
[A song dedicated to my loved one, Long Range.]
The audience cheered and screamed at the unexpected new song.
While the other members started playing, Tsuyuri held up a guitar pick in front of her.
[Radar Rock]
Tsuyuri’s voice echoed.
[Magnum]
Though she hadn’t sang or played the guitar yet, Tsuyuri threw the guitar pick.
While leaving a trail of heart marks in it’s wake, the pick continued to fly a long distance, ignoring the laws of physics.
-And then, the pick hits Haruka on the forehead.
