- Chapter 59 - Seeker 2
“What floor?”
“Fourteen.”
Yunika lead the way to their destination, and Haruka and Ria walked behind her.
“It’s too bad that Claudia-san and Reika-san can’t come.”
Reika had a prior engagement, and Shinku had turned down the invitation because she had to practice for her game.
“… By the way, Shinku has been acting strange lately, do you know anything about it?”
Yunika asked to Haruka who was walking behind her with a somewhat suspicious look on her face. She recalled that when she invited Shinku to go out with Haruka and the others, Shinku was more upset than she had ever seen her before.
Yunika sensed keenly that something had happened to Haruka and Shinku without her knowledge.
“Nothing, but… Did she say something?”
Yunika kept walking and stared at Haruka, but he didn’t seem to be hiding anything from her.
“Nothing in particular…”
Relieved just a little, Yunika turned around to face forward.
The three arrived at their destination, the designated theater room on the 14th floor.
The room itself is small, as it was designed for a small number of people.
However, it has an overwhelmingly huge screen and elaborate surround-sound speakers that surrounded the seats, which are attached to the ceiling.
An entrance for short breaks and a restroom were located near the entrance, and four comfortable large sofas were placed in the center of the room.
“So, what kind of movie do you want to watch?”
“Just a random one from the search engine, right?”
Haruka, Yunika, and Ria were at the entrance, searching for a movie, which was the purpose of the day.
The law prohibiting grading is applied to movies. In other words, movie theaters and distribution sites are forbidden to publish rankings based on sales and popularity.
Only word of mouth, personal review logs, and so on can give people an idea of how a movie is rated.
With more than a thousand movies distributed in movie theaters every day, it’s very difficult to find a movie that everyone would find interesting.
“Romance? Horror?”
“Why do you have to choose between the two? I like action movies too.”
“Well, zombies, then?”
“Oh, zombies. That’s good, isn’t it?”
Seeing Yunika nodding at Ria’s suggestion, Haruka searched for zombie movies.
“Eleven hits.”
Eleven titled floated in the air.
Haruka and the others can’t see the ratings or rankings of the movies. However, they can easily find a rough rating of the film with an advanced search.
Yunika ran a search on the eleven titles, and found their ratings.
The AI searched for positive and negative opinions from all kinds of social networking sites, and produces a percentage.
“For horror, it’s [Evil Sight]. For action, [Hazard: Eugeia]. [Braintrash Zombie 9999] for gag. If it’s a crappy movie, it’s [Metal Zombie Strikes Back]. The rest of them are just okay or not so good.”
Haruka also took a quick look at the outline, and found that Evil Sight, Hazard: Eugeia, and Metal Zombie Strikes Back all seem to be set in the continent of Eugeia. This is what is called “old fiction”.
The continent of Eugeia is a continent that recreated the old era and where civilization has stagnated. It’s a continent created by the King only to stimulate the creative culture of the Japanese. Artificial humans, sometimes referred to by the derogatory term “creative livestock” live there.
Old fictional works often refer to the civilization of Eugeia. Eugeia is often used as a stage.
It’s inevitable that zombies would not be a threat today because of the existence of Sorcery, the Kingsguard, the strong police force, the Self-Defense Forces, and Androids. With the spread of VR technology, there were less dense populated areas, and the infrastructure doesn’t stop even if people die in important facilities. There was no room for panic.
“I want to see horror!”
“Evil Site looks scary…”
“You don’t like scary things?”
“I like it, but I’m not good at it.”
“Then, let’s go for Evil Sight.”
“No objections.”
The three of them decided to watch a horror movie called Evil Sight.
Ria, Haruka, and Yunika sat in the middle seat in that order.
The movie started soon after they were seated.
Evil Sight began with an accident during the study of a demon summoned from another world.
The dead bodies transformed into zombie and attacked the vigilantes who came to the site.
“It’s a common story.”
Ria murmured softly.
During the screening, Haruka casually glanced at Ria with a sideways glance.
She was completely absorbed in the movie and didn’t pay attention to him.
It was a fresh feeling, but feeling a little lonely, Haruka quietly put his left hand on Ria’s thigh without letting Yunika, who was sitting right next to him, notice.
Ria shook her body and looked at Haruka with her eyes rolled up.
Feeling guilty that Haruka had interrupted her while she was so absorbed, he dared not to make eye contact with Ria and continued to watch the screen.
“Ya…. ~nn…”
Ria let out a sexy sigh even though Haruka was just stroking her thighs.
In the scene where the protagonist and his friends are running for the safe zone behind the army and police who are intercepting the zombies, Haruka was thrilled in a different way and continued to stroke Ria while watching the movie closely.
In the middle of the movie, when the characters felt relieved, zombies start jumping out of the screen in surprise.
“Hiih”
Yunika let out a breathless scream and clung to Haruka’s arm.
But actually, she wasn’t scared at all, and was faking it just so she could touch Haruka.
“Obi, can I borrow your arm?”
“Sure.”
With Haruka’s permission, Yunika suppressed a welling up smile as she droops down.
Yunika chose the sofa room instead of the recliner because she wanted to hug Haruka.
Reluctant to be outdone, Ria also hugged Haruka and rubbed her head against his shoulder as if she was spoiling him.
Not only Ria but also Yunika hugged him, and the movie continued to progress while Haruka was distracted.
After an intense journey, the protagonist’s group arrived at a safe area, albeit at great cost.
While the situation seems to be coming to a conclusion, there was a somewhat disturbing feeling.
Haruka’s fears were proven right, and even though it was a safe area, it was infested with zombies.
The heroine, who was pregnant with the protagonist’s child, was also infected and attacked him as a zombie.
The heroine was killed, and the hero laid on the ground crying for a while.
Suddenly, the protagonist heard the sound of a crying baby.
The protagonist rushed to the heroine’s corpse, and found that the baby had been born as human being.
The protagonist, his face crumpled, held the baby in his arms, called the name of the newborn baby, and the film ended.
It was a long film of two hours and forty minutes, but it was interesting from beginning to end.
“It’s over…”
Yunika’s voice sounded regretful. She was still holding on to Haruka’s arm with hers.
“That was fun.”
Ria stretched and rested her weight on the sofa.
“Yes, the ending was a bit sad, but it was interesting.”
It’s not a happy ending because the heroine was dead and their safety was still threatened in the end, but there was still hope for the protagonist thanks to his child being born.
“By the way, the baby’s name was the same as yours… H-haruka.”
Yunika called out Haruka’s name casually with a shy, mumbling voice.
“You’re right. I’m a little happy.”
Haruka patted his ear cuff and exchanged a few words with Yunika.
“You know… What would you name the baby if you had one?”
(Yu-Yunika?! What’s with that question?! Why did the topic turned in that direction!?)
Ria was surprised at the same level as the surprise scene in Evil Sight.
“Well… I think I’ll decide based on the atmosphere of the bride.”
Despite the rather aggressive question, Haruka answered in a nonchalant manner without seeming to think of anything in particular.
“Well then… What would you do if it was me?”
“With Yunika-san? Hmm? If it’s a girl, I’d go with Chitose, and if it’s a boy, I’d go with Natsuno.”
“Fuーfun… Chitose and… Natsuno…”
The theater room was dimly lit, and Haruka didn’t notice Yunika’s moist eyes or her blushing cheeks.
Yunika turned away from him as if to hide her flushed face, and unconsciously stroked her abdomen, which was gradually heating up.
Before Haruka could notice that Yunika was acting strangely, Ria spoke to him.
“Haruka. If it were a child with me, what would you name it?”
“Rika, Rian, or maybe Rio?”
“You want to use my kanji no matter what?”
All of the candidates had “Ri” in their names, so Ria couldn’t help but laugh.
“Isn’t it fine? Your name is beautiful after all.”
“Ehehe, thank you.”
Ria smiled and thanked him shyly.
As if to cover her shyness, Haruka casually put his hand on Ria’s waist and tickled her soft skin with his fingertips.
The tickling made Ria frown and twisted her body.
“Nnn…W-wai…”
She protested in a low voice, but Haruka pretended not to hear her and looked for the next movie.
Ria bent forward and looked fearfully at Yunika besides Haruka to make sure that Yunika didn’t see her.
Fortunately, Yunika didn’t pay any attention to her.
While Ria was relieved, Yunika opened her lips with an enchanting expression on her face.
“Chi-chan… Fufufu…”
Yunika didn’t make a sound. Ria only guessed what Yunika was saying from the movement of her lips.
However, the moment Ria understood what Yunika was saying, her face turned pale and her downy hair stood on end.
No matter how she looked at it, Yunika fell too hard.
Ria sagged down on the sofa as if she was weak, her brain was burned by Haruka’s caresses, while she thought about how she would deal with the coming situation in her hazy mind.
She tried to think about the future, but she was too stimulated from being touched by Haruka to think clearly, so she put it on the back burner.
