- Chapter 51 - Regretting Hiring This Female Waitress
All the guests on the second floor had already perished, and Qing Li was assigned to work on the first floor.
Jin Chen found the new waitress somewhat suspicious. Why had Chu Ci killed all the ghosts, leaving only this human behind?
Or perhaps, was there some connection between her and Chu Ci?
Jin Chen decided to keep Qing Li under close observation.
Two hours later, Wang Lili, looking haggard, brightened slightly when she saw Qing Li come down to the lobby.
“Wuwuwu, Qing Li, you’ve finally come back.”
Wang Lili wanted to cry, but it was working hours, so she had to hold back her tears.
Qing Li glanced at the plate in her hand and immediately understood what had happened.
On the plate lay a human head, its skull cap removed, revealing brain matter and blood mixed together, resembling strawberry yogurt. It was garnished with two eyeballs, making a perfect post-meal dessert.
This head belonged to Player No. 51, Chen Fang.
Wang Lili shakily served the dish to Table No. 19, saying, “Guest, here is your brain dessert.”
“Wait a minute…”
The rotting ghost at Table No. 19 suddenly got upset. Pointing at the head on the table, he burst out angrily, “Using such an ugly human for a dessert, are you trying to make me lose my appetite?”
“I’m sorry, guest, I’ll change it right away,” Wang Lili said, trembling.
The rotting ghost let out a strange laugh, “No need to change, I think your head will do just fine.”
As he finished speaking, he raised his decaying hand, eager to twist off Wang Lili’s neck.
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience, guest. I’ll have the kitchen prepare a new one for you,” came a voice.
Jin Chen, appearing out of nowhere, stood in front of Wang Lili. His lips curved in his trademark smile, but his body exuded a powerful aura.
Only a resentful ghost of his level could intimidate a rotting ghost, who reluctantly sat back down.
“Qing Li, you serve this guest.”
Jin Chen had obviously assigned Qing Li here to trouble her.
Qing Li walked over with a smile, her expression calm as she asked the rotting ghost, “Hello, guest. Since you’re dissatisfied with the current head, may I ask what your requirements are for the appearance of the head?”
The rotting ghost snorted, “I want a handsome and attractive head, only that will match my refined taste.”
“Okay, please wait a moment.”
Qing Li nodded with a smile, but in the next instant, she pulled off the rotting ghost’s head with her bare hands.
“Whoosh—”
The body of the rotting ghost, already in a state of decay, was as soft as an overcooked chicken left in a pot for over two hours, easily coming apart at the slightest pull.
As his head hung in midair, the ghost cursed too late, “Damn human, how dare you pull off my head, you’re dead, I’m going to eat you.”
Qing Li firmly pressed his head onto the dinner plate, swiftly picking up the surgical knife Chu Ci gave her to pry open the rotting ghost’s skull. She then picked up Chen Fang’s head, scooping the brain and liquid mixture into it.
Her movements were smooth and efficient.
“For you, our guest, I’m thinking of your best interests. You wanted a handsome and dashing head as your dish, but looking around the entire restaurant, no one is as handsome and charming as you. So, for your dining pleasure, I had to use your own head as tableware.”
Wang Lili stood by, shocked. Was this a way to serve guests?
Jin Chen pressed his temples, beginning to doubt whether inviting this human was the biggest mistake ever.
But then…
When everyone thought Qing Li would anger the rotting ghost, he suddenly laughed.
“Human, you’re not wrong. Only my most handsome face is worthy of my taste.”
He, without his head, picked up a spoon from the table and began to eat heartily.
The surrounding ghosts, seeing Qing Li unharmed, showed contempt for the rotting ghost.
“What a fool, he’s probably eating a pig’s brain!”
Completely fooled by a human.
“Waiter, give me a high-protein dish.”
At that moment, a ghastly-faced ghost at a nearby table spoke to Qing Li.
His voice silenced the restaurant.
Even Jin Chen’s expression turned grave.
This seemed like a customer looking for trouble.
“Of course, dear guest, please wait a moment.”
Qing Li smiled and went to the kitchen to arrange the meal.
It was her first time in the kitchen. Seeing the humans there to be slaughtered, her clear eyes flickered slightly.
“These are humans bred for consumption, just as your kind once bred pigs and sheep for food. We also breed some humans as ingredients,” Jin Chen explained from behind her. His face marked with red patterns, flowing eerily, he too was once bred like this and chose to become a butcher to survive.
Qing Li glanced at him, his facial patterns like the stitches on Chu Ci’s body, a curse.
But this curse, cast with a life, was bitter and troublesome. Once Jin Chen’s face was fully covered, he wouldn’t even be able to become a ghost.
But that was none of her concern.
The kitchen worked quickly, preparing a bowl of high-protein in seconds.
Qing Li looked at the wriggling maggots in the bowl with disgust.
“Manager, I think we should take this dish off the menu, or we’ll risk complaints about maggots in the food.”
Jin Chen: “…”
Qing Li went down to the main dining room, placing the bowl of high-protein in front of the ghastly-faced ghost. “Here’s your high-protein dish.”
The ghost, looking at the white maggots in the bowl, furiously said, “Waiter, how dare you serve me food with maggots? Are you tired of living?”
Qing Li’s words turned prophetic, but fortunately, she had already prepared a way to deal with it.
“Guest, you are mistaken, these are not maggots, this is the high-protein dish you ordered.”
“Damn it, these are maggots, I’m not blind.”
“Guest, which eye of yours sees these as maggots?”
“Both my eyes see them.”
The ghost, determined to find fault and claim there was a problem with the dish, thought it would have a reason to devour the human girl in front of it.
Qing Li smiled, picked up the chopsticks from the table, and in an unexpected moment, stabbed them into the eyes of the ghost.
The ghost screamed miserably as its eyeballs were gouged out.
“Guest, now… which eye can see?”
The ghost, having lost its eyeballs, was plunged into darkness, hearing Qing Li’s light voice in its ears.
The ghost felt a chilling fear: “…I can’t see anymore.”
