Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou Survival [WN] - Chapter 177.2
Dungeons were not completely dark. As could be said of any dungeon, due to the nature of the dungeon [to lure in prey], the walls and ceilings in the dungeon emit a faint light and the brightness was about that of a moonlit night, so even those with weak night vision could fight sufficiently if their eyes were accustomed to the darkness.
But that was only in large corridors and halls, and the light did not reach the narrow corridors and divided paths that were the beasts’ nests.
That information would be a key point in a dungeon fight. The others seemed to think that the small passages in the ceiling and walls were monster dens, but with high Taijutsu, Concealment, and Detection skills, they could be used as raid points.
In fact, the passage near the ceiling I explored was a nest of large bats, which I now used as one of my temporary bases.
On the second day, I examined the beasts in the dungeon.
This dungeon was a [beast dungeon], and the beasts that I defeated could be used as food if I treated them well. In fact, the meat of an unidentified beast was being eaten at the Demon Fort, but it was probably obtained from the dungeon.
There were no ordinary animals in the dungeon, even if they were beasts. There are only monsters in the form of beasts that have been turned into monsters with magical elements. In a normal dungeon, monsters of Rank 1 or so appear in the lower levels, and the difference between floors was limited to the number and frequency of monsters, but that could not be used as a criterion here.
The complexity of the other floors of the dungeon meant that even on a single level, one could encounter large beasts and Rank 2 herds like the one Camille and the others had come in contact with. I have only seen beasts up to Rank 3, but I have the species and their habitat in mind, along with the geography of the dungeon.
On the third day, I decided to look for another entrance.
Considering that the only other clans I have come in contact with so far were those I defeated with illusions, I guess the other entrances may not be in easy locations to access. The people I had defeated had probably been underwater before the selection ceremony began.
The probability of finding them is low even if you search in the dark in the maze. But if you stay in a dungeon long enough, you can see the regularity, even if it is a labyrinth. The structure of the lure inside is the same, so if you can find it, you should be able to find another entrance.
This was not certain because of the luck involved, but I was lucky enough to find a clue to it.
“…Ten?”
I didn’t find any other entrances, but I did find a squad of about ten people who probably came from one of them.
All of them were Rank 3 and their weapons were made of steel, but they were wearing full body armor that appeared to be made of beetle. A raiding party attacking another clan? But the number of men and their equipment seemed half of what I expected. Even if they target the main group with a Rank 5, they would probably be beaten back with that kind of equipment and number of men.
But I had an inkling of what they were doing. Their equipment and composition seemed to be designed to defeat the monsters in the dungeon, not to defeat people. However, they didn’t look like soldiers of the fortress were defeating monsters for their meat. To begin with, if they were going to dive into the dungeon at this time of the year, it would mean hostile action. If that were the case, their purpose would be to–
“A supply unit?”
